Pandemická situace a řada omezení s ní spojená zatlačila kulturu do kouta.

První tři projekty budou finančně i materiálně podpořeny v rámci možností galerie.
- 1. místo 5000 kč
- 2. místo 3000 kč
- 3. místo 1500 kč

U dalších vybraných projektů budeme předpokládat udržitelný přístup v rámci partnerství s Art re use.

Výsledky 13.2.

Realizace 11.2.- 17.3.

Možnost zahrnutí do doprovodných programů, možnost práce na místě ( rezidence v galerii), a umístění prací v prostoru vymezeném projektu Udržitelná spojení.

Open call for “Sustainable Connections”

After two years of pandemic restrictions on cultural gatherings, how can we reconnect through culture in ways that are resilient, versatile and able to withstand the strain that is put on our connections to each other by forces outside our control? As we are pushed to be ever more creative and flexible to navigate the challenges of the contemporary social and material world, what links are worth keeping and which would we rather cut?
As part of our installation Sustainable Connections for the exhibition Blast Cries Laughter at Pragovka gallery, we would like to invite guests to contribute works, performances or interventions as part of an evolving, collective installation piece, and help us to build a place to meet and explore old and new ways to retouch, reconnect and even retreat when necessary. To find out more about our project, everybody is welcome to visit us at Korzo Pragovka (6.2.2022), where the project will be presented. More informations: https://bit.ly/Udržitelnáspojení

The project Sustainable Connections is part of a larger section of projects under the title (Un)Sustainable Connections, which falls under the exhibition Hole in Stasis, consisting of several curatorial sections.
The aforementioned project by the artist duo Susanne Kass and Tomáš Roček is based on a gradually emerging installation that connects the past and the present through collaboration, determining the direction the work will take and how it will modify the space in which it is created. The installation will be worked on primarily by its authors, but they will adapt their work during the project period (6 February - 17 March) to come into contact with gallery visitors and invited artists, who can participate in the work and use prepared materials or even what they bring themselves. This live, processual installation will be conceived as a small room/studio inside the large room of Pragovka Gallery Rear. The participatory installation in this defined space will give space for five weeks to meet, workshop and build on the work of individual artists. On 17.3.2022 the work on the project will conclude and the results will be evaluated at Korz Pragovka II.

The creators of the Red Dward TV series once said that ‘The bluish stain on the wall of the [Red Dwarf's] deck had not only one exit…but two’. The second exit led to the Pragovka of January 2022 - the XXII World Dimension. An exhibition that due to the current circumstances has been renamed, Capturing Time and Space.
In this post-pandemic era, many artists have attempted to reflect on their existence in the world, and the ways in which they are anchored 'locally, interpersonally, historically, and through sound’. In this exhibition, the mind finds itself in the site-specific terrain of installations, within the audible interventions of the factory hall. In positioning the mind in this environment, it seeks to anchor itself through participation. In defining the sonic territory of the building, and by looking back at the geological and political past, we ‘ride the dragon and are afraid to look down‘. Time and space are concepts the mind has not yet learned to handle.

City:

Eligibility:

Artist In Residence at Petrohradská kolektiv 2022

Petrohradská kolektiv announces an open call for artists to participate in an international program Artist in Residence for the year 2022.

The residency program is intended for active artists, creators, and theoreticians, who desire independence and want space and technical support for working on their projects. That’s what the Petrohradská kolektiv AiR program offers in the heart of a multi-genre cultural center in Prague. The goal of the program is creating an open platform for international artistic dialogue, interconnection of different cultures, and support for emerging artists working with diverse media.

Residency is an opportunity for independent professional development, artistic exchange, networking, and experiments.

The resulting artistic outcomes of the residencies will be showcased in Jedna Dva Tři Gallery at the Petrohradská kolektiv complex. The main theme of the exhibition program for 2022 is Transformation, therefore we are asking ask the applicants to take this into account when applying with their projects.

Who are we looking for?

Residencies are intended mainly for artists with interests in creative sharing and participation in the field of Prague contemporary art scene.

Prospective participants should introduce us concrete projects that would be realized within their stay in Prague. The final result of the residency will be traditionally showcased in our own Jedna Dva Tři Gallery. Anyway, the form of the output can be adapted according to each project’s nature.

What do we offer?

  • Accommodation and a studio in the Petrohradská kolektiv complex
  • Covering the travel and material costs (up to 200€)
  • Technical support and consultation
  • Exhibition in Jedna Dva Tři Gallery (or an alternative)
  • Free entrance to all the events organized by Petrohradská kolektiv

The original idea behind Petrohradská kolektiv was to make a community space for creativity and art practice, where there’s a place for both efficient working and pleasant relaxing, where you can focus on your own projects and then take a break without the necessity of leaving the building.

Within the AiR we provide a technical support, promotion, and a curatorial assistance. Travel and material costs are covered up to a maximum of 200€.

We know that a convenient working environment is fundamental, therefore within the residency we provide a shared studio with a workshop with basic equipment with an area of 60 square meters, a photo/video studio, and a recording studio. Each project requires different technical equipment, therefore the technology needed is consulted with each artist individually.

Each participant gets a private room in a 3-room apartment with a common area, a kitchen, and a bathroom. The apartment is situated on the ground floor of the Petrohradská kolektiv building.

Petrohradská kolektiv organizes many cultural events within its complex. All of the residing artists get to attend these events for free.

Within the AiR program, which works in parallel with other events, there’s an opportunity of collaboration with artists and mentors from different cultural backgrounds. Thanks to that, our residents can actively participate in various programs of Petrohradská kolektiv.

Residency conditions

Participation in the residential program requires communication skills in English or in Czech.

Each resident is obligated to prepare a final report of their stay including a photo documentation.

Participants of the AiR program of Petrohradská kolektiv are required to spend at least 75% of the duration of their stay in the place of the residency.

The stays include an author’s presentation (or its online equivalent) and an exhibition output or else.

The residency must be completed within the specified period and it is not possible to interrupt it.

Because of the current pandemic, the residency is conditioned by submitting a certificate of vaccination against Covid-19 and a certificate of testing for Covid-19 with a negative result. The costs of the vaccination and the test are not covered by Petrohradská kolektiv.

Residency duration

AiR 2022 will take place between April 15 - November 30 2022.

When applying, please let us know about your preferred dates.

The residency within the Artist in Residence program doesn’t require any fee paid by the resident. All costs of accommodation and equipment described above will be covered by Petrohradská kolektiv.

The duration of the residency is 4-6 weeks, when the participant is obliged to finish their project and prepare it for the presentation in a form of exhibition.

In the selection procedure, a maximum of 8 applicants will be selected to participate in the AiR program.

Open call • Food Studio (an open kitchen for art, theory and politics)

Theme:

City:

Eligibility:

In the framework of this residency program, we are looking for projects where food grows to become one the media of contemporary art. We are particularly interested in concepts where the kitchen is conceived as common ground for a better understanding, where foodstuffs count as political, historical, and cultural beings. We would like to provide a space to projects examining the social dimension of food and which would consider working with Prague’s art scene, our international community of residents, and – last but not least – MeetFactory employees.

MeetFactory is a non-profit international centre for contemporary art. Our mission is to foster a dialogue between individual genres and make current developments on the art scene accessible to the broadest public. We support original projects in the fields of visual art, theatre, and music, as well as interdisciplinary and experimental platforms. We aim to create a space in which art is alive and artists are present, enhancing a direct exchange between international artists and visitors, as well as between different fields and generations.

From a seasonal trend in exhibition-making to yet another sub-medium in contemporary art, food is becoming an increasingly important element of today’s art practice. Over the course of the preceding decade, one can follow the appropriation of foodstuffs by a broad spectrum of artists developing community-based and socially engaged projects. It can be seen as another path to recognising identity politics or dealing with post-colonial topics. Since our residency programme is mainly oriented towards building relationships between the Prague art scene (art audiences and residents), we would like to use a food-oriented art practice as a platform for connection and mutual understanding. Let’s have a bite!

What we provide:

- accommodation in a shared apartment
- studio space
- a fee of 700 euros (gross) per month
- a production budget of 200 euros
- further production budget related to the project

Make sure you are able to spend at least 80% of your residency time here in Prague.

Interested applicants must send following information in English:

- CV
- a short description of the project you’d like to work on – up to 1000 characters
- your portfolio
- information about when you’d prefer to come

Possible dates:

1st of March – 31st of May 2022
