Portraits 2022 | International Juried Painting Competition

Open call to artists for Camelback Gallery's annual Portraits Painting Competition. We are accepting submissions of artwork that represents people and/or persons as a portrait painting with any artistic freedom of style. Jurors will be looking for Quality of work and Technical Skill.

Mediums to be considered but not limited to: Oil, Acrylic, Pastel, Watercolor, Encaustic, Mixed Media, Scratchboard, Gouache, Airbrush, Pen, Ink, Pencil, Charcoal, Graphite, Markers, Colored Pencil, Fiber, Collage.  No digital or sculpture for this competition.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2023-24 Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health program at the Global Brain Health Institute.

This is a 12-month, full-time, paid residential fellowship based at the University of California, San Francisco (USA) or Trinity College Dublin (Ireland).

Aging and the Lived Experiences of Transgender and Gender Nonconforming (t/gnc) – Older Adults: Narratives Through Art

As told in their own voices through art and film this exhibit seeks to share some of the diverse lived experiences of transgender and gender non-conforming older adults (T/GNC) in the United States and throughout the world. The exhibit centers T/GNC individuals’ unique narratives and make their lives visible. We hope that this program provides a path to unite a wide audience in a shared experience.

The Figure

Art Center Sarasota invites Regional Artists to submit work for our upcoming open call, The Figure.

The Figure celebrates a passion for the human form in all media including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, digital arts, and sculpture in any medium. Representational and abstract depictions of the figure are both encouraged and accepted in this open call.

Some notable figurative artists include: Cecily Brown, Alberto Giacometti, Lucian Freud, Jenny Saville, Wilhelm de Kooning, Nan Goldin, Pablo Picasso, and Jordan Casteel.

The Figure refers to the human form and not that of animals or imagined creatures.

Hispanic Heritage - The Tapestry of America

"Hispanic Heritage - The Tapestry of America," will run in the Cultural Center from October 11–November 10, 2022. This exhibition will focus on the Hispanic influence reflected in this country and embodied in its traditions, tastes, music, and art. We have five galleries to wrap in art of all mediums, from light and sound, fine art and authentic craft, or photography and film.
