Studio Tour Open Call

We are now accepting submissions for our studio tour open call!

We want to know the process behind the pieces we love. Studio Tours provides an intimate setting for visitors to get to know artists where they’re most comfortable — in their creative spaces. If you’re an artist with a designated art space, we want to hear from you.

This call is open to all creators 18 years and older, and responses can be submitted in a written, auditory, or visual format.

Large Scale Exhibition juried by Mary Davis Wallace

Juried Exhibition: Large Scale

  • Large Scale displays the creative talent and bold pursuit of artists who make monumental works.
  • The impact of large scale work is deliberate and it is meant to overwhelm by itself, command a space, and dwarf everything else that comes near it.

Submissions are welcome in all media including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, digital arts, and sculpture.

ART 64: Live Painting Tournament for $20,000 Grand Prize

Discover Wauwatosa seeks 64 artists to participate in the second annual ART 64 event on June 9 & 10, 2023. ART 64 is a two-day bracket-style painting tournament taking place in The Village of Wauwatosa, highlighting diverse, nationwide artists and local businesses. ART 64 is proudly brought to you by Discover Wauwatosa.

In four rounds, artists are paired to go head-to-head and given 60 minutes to create a work of art on a predetermined theme on canvas. Members of the public, both in-person and virtually, are invited to watch the paintings come to life and vote for their favorite artists to advance online.

HCCC Artist Residency Program

Program Info & Requirements

Media accepted: Wood, Glass, Metal, Fiber, and Clay

Applicants must be able to fulfill a program requirement of working in their studios for two days per week during HCCC public hours:  Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  All resident artists are required to open their studios to public interaction on Saturdays and one other day of the week (TBD), as well as during exhibition openings and specific educational programs on the evenings and weekends. Applicants should consider the public facing nature of the residencies and the fact that a major goal of the program is to provide visitors with an opportunity to explore contemporary craft through engaging with working artists.

The 2023 International Summer Program @ The Watermill Center

Our longest-standing program, the International Summer Program unites a community of international artists for a creative intensive at our East End Campus each summer. It offers a unique opportunity to advance one’s artistic practice in a communal and experimental environment and work alongside established arts professionals worldwide.

Culminating in our Annual Summer Benefit, the Summer Program provides the time and space for emerging artists to develop new works that push the boundaries of contemporary creative practice. The artists – from different disciplines, countries, and backgrounds – share meals, exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, attend workshops, and participate in the daily life of The Watermill Center.
