Sculpture X, Form Finding in the 21st Century

Sculpture X

Form Finding for the 21rst century

William Paterson University workshop and residency

June 3, 2021- June 17, 2021

THE WORKSHOP

Imagine being in a group of like-minded creatives working in proximity to create sculpture carved by robot but finished by your hand? We seek to bring together artists, sculptors, designers, architects, and curators to explore robot carving in wood. Working around other artists can inspire and motivate as you discover ideas in a speculative, constructive context.  It’s an opportunity to discover new ideas as well as work with new technologies. That's the spirit and tone that Sculpture X: Form Finding for the 21st Century seeks to provide.

Seeking proposals for art-climate-science collaborations

Broto: Art-Climate-Science is an emerging art-sci collaboration conference and community pointed at successful climate endgames. The transdisciplinary organization is asking for proposals for a single paid collaboration team. Each team must include at least one of each of the following — artist, scientist and observer — who will work together on a new project to test our Collaboration Blueprint.

Exploring Patient Data and Surgical Healthcare

Medical interventions and decisions are driven by data from an increasingly intricate array of measurements and tests, which creates a vivid representation of each patient. This data representation is often complex and obscure to the patient, yet has a profound impact on the trajectory of care.

We are looking for two artists, one focussing on prostate and the other on pancreatic cancer, to develop online based projects that bring together engineers, clinicians and patients to share their experiences of clinical decisions and explore what is needed for patients to feel informed in the face of complex data.

Sound, Language & Position with AGF

Workshop dates: 17/05/2021 - 2021-08-31

Listening is a practice - it is a political act. Sound is a way of knowing the world; a way of orienting ourselves, of expressing, understanding and contextualising our position. We can use sound to make connections, to grow decentralized networks, to organise. The possibilities of language - political language, deconstructed language, poetic language - to organise these networks and connections is intensely powerful and nuanced. What is political sound? Or collective sound? Does it have a transformative quality? How can we make sound together, and decolonize our practice as an individualistic form of expression? What technology can we involve, develop or hack?

Open Call for Digital Artists

Artists call out - PAID POSITION

We’re looking for digital artists who want to take part in our upcoming virtual exhibition "Let's go digital, let's get active!" (8th - 11th April 2021).

The exhibition will explore modern society, politics and cultures, and will share values and messages to young audiences through the amazing potential of digital art.

Digital artists addressing specific contemporary social, political and cultural issues (ex. environment, feminism, immigration etc.) are welcome to apply.

The exhibition will be visited by a multicultural young audience from all over the world. This can then be a chance for you to gain new audiences and to live a unique experience with Express Impress.

"[...] now that we've witnessed every aspect of art, culture, commerce, politics and education all boxed into the glass oftiny screens, we need a change. Our new theme for 2021, "Searchlight," is about digital art that escapes the limits of screens. [...]
