Tough Art Residency Program

The Tough Art Residency Program is now accepting applications! This summer residency invites artists to work with museum staff and visitors to create an interactive work of art that is “tough” enough to withstand rigorous engagement. Artists are to be in residence June through mid-September 2022. During this time, they will work in the museum to develop and create new works to be exhibited in Fall/Winter 2022-2023.

Each residency artist/team receives a $5,000 honorarium and a $3,500 materials budget.

The Korean Cultural Centers in the UK and Germany are offering artists an opportunity to exhibit in our gallery spaces. We cordially invite artists to submit their application.

EXHIBITION THEME

BEGIN AGAIN

Where does one turn for respite in times of unrest? What radiates permanence and clear perspective when uncertainty abounds? How can we imagine a more positive future beyond the realities of the current global experience? Which innovations, be they sonic, visual, sculptural or experiential, allow us to shift our positions, alter our vantage points and question our assumptions?
