Santa Fe Art Auction Assistant: We seek an engaged and organized individual to join our expanding team as an Auction Assistant. As an Auction Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the smooth operation of our auctions, ensuring a positive experience for both buyers and sellers. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment where your attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to multitask will be essential. The position works directly with the art auction team and is under the management of the CEO. Must be well organized, able to handle multiple projects, and self-directed. The successful candidate will also be comfortable in a front-office position and able to interact confidently with all levels of clients.

Duties Include:

  • Interact with clients in person and over the phone to answer inquiries and provide information about artworks and the auction process.
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of auction events, including setup, registration, and bidder check-in.
  • Support post-auction activities, such as payment processing, releasing artwork to successful bidders, responding to buyer inquiries, and providing customer support.
  • Provide administrative support by maintaining accurate records and organizing art-related documentation.
  • Work with all client categories (buyer/seller, collectors, dealers, corporations, institutions).
  • Other duties as assigned to support the Auction Team.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent work experience in applicable Art History, Museum Studies, Collection Management, Decorative Arts, or another related area.
  • Previous experience in an auction house, museum or gallery registration, or a related field is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook; database management experience and/or strong spreadsheet skills highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Demonstrates ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work within a team environment and self-directed.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office/gallery/auction setting.
