Ms_Fabricator/Crafter/Fine Art Production Assistant_Brooklyn

 My last professional position was working as a fabricator for the sculptor Will Ryman. I worked on numerous and varied projects from start to finish for the past 2.5 years. The sculptures have ranged from detailed maquettes to large outdoor works as well as two large scale installation projects. My duties in the studio include fabrication, mold-making and casting, large-scale fiberglass works, painting and finishing. I have worked with many different materials and techniques and I am used to interpreting plans and troubleshooting. Other duties have included assisting in studio upkeep/inventory, training interns, packaging, photographing and crating works. In 2008, I worked as an artist assistant with installation based sculptor, Orly Genger. I crocheted large-scale works out of rope, the outcome being a large installation at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. The pieces were composed of layers of crocheted nautical rope stacked on top of each other. They were variable dimensions, one of the wider ones being 9x9 feet and one of the tallest 17 feet high. It was a laborious effort and taught me a great deal about the intensity and collaboration of a large-scale production project. In 2009, I worked as a development intern for Art21, a non-profit organization that produces the series"Art21-Art in the 21st Century" for PBS as well as educational and public programs and online resources. I was responsible for development research and helping to organize and carry out Art21's Salon Series, an artist discussion event aimed at education and fund-raising. I also did light office work and organization, and transcribed video footage for the Production department.
