"Meet the Artists" aims to bring the audience closer to the artists in an informal chat and Q&A, introduced by a brief presentation by Leyden Gallery. We would be happy to have you with us, as we think this would be an excellent chance to connect and share ideas, making the gallery a place of exchange while supporting these incredible international and UK artists. 

Platform for Emerging Arts #23 is a mixed media exhibition showcasing the work of 8 home-grown and international artists in critical early stages of their careers. With the development of each of Leyden Gallery’s Platform shows, there is a fabulous opportunity for the public to both see and buy contemporary art in one of East London's most vibrant art spaces.

Leyden Gallery presents the 23rd Platform for Emerging Arts Exhibition, a mixed-media exhibition showcasing the work of eight home-grown and international artists in critical early stages of their careers. The artists in the Platform for Emerging Arts Exhibitions are selected for their innovation and skill by the curatorial team at Leyden Gallery. With the development of each of Leyden Gallery’s Platform shows there is a fabulous opportunity for the public to both see and buy contemporary art. It promises to be a dynamic display from talented emerging artists in one of East London's most vibrant art spaces.

The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition 2019 Exhibition

Now in its 32nd year, The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition is the largest and most prestigious prize for contemporary watercolour painting in the UK. Hugely popular with artists, gallery visitors and readers of The Sunday Times, the competition aims to celebrate and redefine the beauty and diversity of watercolour and water-based media.

95 works have been selected from a total of close to 1,000 submissions by a panel of leading figures from the art world. The 2019 judging panel includes Sophie Charalambous, Artist and 2018 First Prize winner; Simon Martin, Director, Pallant House Gallery; Barbara Nicholls, Artist; Helen Waters, Director, Alan Cristea Gallery, and Louis Wise, Writer and Art Critic.

This year sees the introduction of a new First Prize of £8,000, generously sponsored by independent financial advisers, London Wall Partners LLP. In addition to the £8,000 London Wall Partners Prize, a Second Prize of £3,000, a Third Prize of £1,000, and the Pegasus Young Artist Prize – awarded to an artist aged under 30 years – are also available. The prizes will be awarded at a private view on 19 September, subsequent to which the winners will be announced in the Culture section of The Sunday Times.

The shortlisted works will be shown at Mall Galleries, London from 17 - 22 September 2019 before touring to Town Hall Arts, Trowbridge (5 October – 9 November 2019) and Guildford House Gallery, Surrey (16 November 2019 – 2 January 2020).

SoLo Craft Fair: Balham Autumn Market

Spend your September afternoon is the cosy, quirky Balham Bowls Club, browsing wares of some of the most talented traders in London. Grab a drink form the bar and and do some shopping in style whilst supporting local businesses.

Crafty makes will be running a creative workshop where guests can try their hand at mono-printing. There will be a kids play corner to keep the little ones occupied whilst you shop.
