Description: 

Music for Miniatures/Crescendo Concerts are looking to cast 2 exceptional multi-talented people for our Autumn 2021 tour of our new production of Beethoven meets Hansel and Gretel. We’ll be performing to families and primary schools across Banes, Somerset, Wiltshire, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. 

 

This is a paid role - an all inclusive fee of £3180. This is for 5 days rehearsal and 43 performances (2 or 3 per day). 

 

Basic requirements for applicants:

 

Must have own transport

Must be a musician / actor to a professional performing standard. If you’re a musician, you must be able to act confidently, and if you’re an actor, you must be prepared to play your instrument to professional standards. Absolute bare minimum Grade 8+ on instrument. Ideally will have keyboard skills too.

Must be able and willing to learn a whole 40 min score/script from memory.

Must be able to sing as part of the performance

Must be able to bring another skill set to the group - ie if you’re a violinist, maybe you are able to juggle? Maybe you’re a puppeteer? Maybe you’re a closet ventriloquist? Maybe you can hula hoop whilst playing Bach? Balloon modelling? Super quick origami? Drawing/painting really speedily? etc etc 

 

For the audition we’d like you to prepare:

 

A poem of your choice and something to play. We’d like you to present the poem and music together as one performance piece and show us your acting/musician skills. Mix them up, do something interesting! Up to 5 mins max.

You’ll be asked to sightread, sing and harmonise

A section of score (given on receipt of application) to memorise and then we’ll work together as a group.

Role Description: 

Looking for 2 highly talented and exceptional actor/musicians to tour through the Autumn in our new Theatrical Chamber Music production where we use the music of Beethoven to tell the story of Hansel & Gretel. Must be bare minimum Grade 8+ on instrument AND bring another skill too ie juggling, speed drawing, balloon modelling, etc

Production / Rehearsal / Audition dates: 
Auditions on 1st and 2nd June in Bath You must be available for ALL of the following (a day runs from 8.30am - 4.30pm, rehearsal days and show days, a half day runs either morning from 8.30 - 12.30 or afternoon 12.30 - 4.30 tbc): Rehearsals: Tuesday 20th July - half day music rehearsal TBC Wednesday 21st July - half day music rehearsal TBC Thursday 2nd September - rehearsal all day Wednesday 8th September - rehearsal all day Thursday 9th September - rehearsal all day Thursday 16th September - rehearsal all day Performances: Sat 18th September - 3 shows Sun 19th September - 3 shows Sun 3rd October - 3 shows Sun 17th October - 3 shows Thursday 28th October - 3 shows Friday 29th October - 3 shows Saturday 30th October - 3 shows Sunday 31st October - 3 shows Sat 13th November - 3 shows Sun 14th November - 3 shows Sat 27th November - 3 shows Sun 28th November - 3 shows Plus 10 schools visits (1 or 2 shows per school with hopefully 2 schools per day but schools schedule tbc) on Thursdays tbc between 23rd Sept and 25th Nov.
