My System of Stanislavsky - Second Dialogue: Ethics in Theatre

Theatre Ethics

Teacher and master student – Jurij Alschitz and Olga Lapina, two generations of Stanislavsky’s disciples explore the legacy of Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky and its relevance for today’s theatre practice in a course of profound interactive meetings.

Jurij Alschitz and Olga Lapina believe, that their mission is to impart knowledge of the system to a new generation, but they relate past experience and contemporary theatrical thought critically, discovering unconventional and creative contemporary applications of what might be known as traditional elements of Stanislavsky system. With this course  they want to encourage theatre practicioners to develop their one system. 

For this second meeting they will discuss the subject Ethics. Do you know the famous text of Stanislavsky? If not, get it, read it. It markes the birth of the acting profession. On this basis they will open the Questions for all:

- What is the difference between human ethics and artistic ethics?

- What do you think belongs to the concept of artistic ethics?

- On what ethical principles are the relationships between the actor and the text based?

- How it is reflected in the practical work with a Chekhov text?
