When I first viewed the painting L'Origine du monde I was amazed that it was dated 1866. I not only admired the artist for his daring to paint such a subject in such an erotic pose, but even more so for the title he assigned the image for The Origin of the World epitomizes how I too feel about the subject. However, I have approached it from a more joyous and lyrically abstract point of view.
