"PILOTENKUECHE" is an international art program based in Germanys new art capital Leipzig. The indipendent project is run by artists with the aim to support and empower artists.

The project invites within the “International Residency Program” selected artists from around the world to come and work in the 465m², fully remodeled space for a period of three months, with 24h studio access. Each accepted artist is offered a partial stipend in kind that represents our unpaid working hours. We maintain engagements with several partners, and by introducing our artists to these, make it possible for participants to cooperate with and exhibit in other venues. Our concept encourages experimental strategies aiming to provide our participants with the experience of accomplishing something collectively. In a group of around twelve international artists together with two local artists participating on our program activities, a stimulating dialogue becomes vital in fostering an independent position in one's work, which leads to a long-term network that exists even after the program is over.

The Program activities are for example:

  • studio visits and open studio if the group is interested
  • contact to the local art szene,
  • organized museum tours,
  • scheduled art critiques,
  • published artists spotlight on each artist
  • professional install and exhibition pictures
  • two group exhibitions in interesting venues.

The Studio space consists of:

  • one furnished up to 36m² large space per artist in our 465m² large communal loft hall including wifi and all side costs (water, underfloor heating, energy, kitchen, toilet etc.)
  • desk, little stroage space
  • depends on the work of the artists, but two walls to work on
  • large windows
  • approximately twelve artists per month working in the space
  • furnished shared tea kitchen with fridge, microwave, hotplate
  • Common area

Participants receive all documentation necessary to apply for funding and the visa process. If required, the project can assist with additional individual reference letters. We can offer a lastminute discount of 400 EUR.

Eligibility:

We are SKT, a new exciting project with the aim of creating a scattered gallery without borders. The SKTeam is promoting emerging contemporary artists and helping them to showcase and sell their artworks. Currently, we are preparing to launch our third scattered exhibition ‘restART the planet’ that will run from 24 January, 2021 to 24 February, 2021 in 2 different London city-centre locations, Notting Hill and Chelsea.

The theme of the exhibition was inspired by the newly born partnership between SKT and WhereFrom, a young startup with great ideas who connects sustainably-minded brands with sustainably-minded consumers. With their help and creativeness, we will be able to do so much more than promote artists because we will also plant trees. WhereFrom and TreeSisters combine four of today’s big ticket issues: gender, climate, behaviour change, and ecological restoration through large-scale tropical reforestation. We are unique in our grass roots, ethical and holistic approach, our call to include and involve everyone, and our focus on a wider cultural shift that embeds restoration into everything. Partnering with us aligns you with that mission.

The deadline to submit your application is 11 January, 2020. Exhibition contributions start from £150.00 for one piece within 1x1m (you can join with 3 pieces maximum);

SKT will take 20% commission on sales. Whenever we close a sale, we will give you back the contribution you initially invested with us. If it doesn't sell, the funds we gather from the contributions are going towards the needs of the exhibitions:
- Maintenance and hire of the gallery space
- Printing costs (poster, labels etc)
- Online promotion cost
- Staff/Invigilators
- Catering

Our upcoming opportunities:
"SKT goes to Nice" art fair in South France - 9/11 April, 2021
"SKT goes to Amsterdam" - May TBA

Your fee includes 1 live interview (if you attend the opening or 1 video/written interview if you cannot do it) 1 article and 1 tree planted with our partner WhereFromUK.

Please send us an email and we will be more than happy to look at your portfolios and plant trees with you!
