Mount Auburn Cemetery Artist-in-Residence

In 2014, Mount Auburn became the first cemetery in the United States to establish an artist residency program. Each year, the chosen artists are charged with creating an original, site-specific work inspired by an in-depth experience at the Cemetery that conveys a fresh and innovative perspective of Mount Auburn.

The grant must result in a deliverable product, program, or event that is unique to Mount Auburn Cemetery. All projects will be presented to the public (how and when projects are presented is to be determined by the artist and the AiR Program manager).

AIR: Commons, Chaotic Fluid, Inspiration

The Nature, Art & Habitat Residency: An ECO-Laboratory of Multidisciplinary Practice is an art program hold in Taleggio Valley (Italy) and Santa Ynez (California) that aims to unfold and display a sensitive culture that responds to nature’s needs and uses nature’s insights as a source of inspiration and as measure of impacts on available resources. The ultimate goal of NAHR is to uncover intimate links between all living organisms in order to support more resilient development where humans and nature can successfully coexist.

CAMP is a residential arts facility in the French Pyrenees. It's a place where great art is made, new movements are formed, new ideas are explored and groundbreaking people are nurtured. CAMP is located in Aulus les Bains, the last village before the France/Spain Pyrenean frontier chain. The location is spectacular - we are nestled at 750m above sea level, surrounded by snowcapped peaks over 3000m high, ancient forests and cascading waterfalls. There are eagles, lammergeiers, vultures, ibex and bears. Walk out of the residency, and within ten minutes you are completely alone in one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in Europe.
