Call to Artists: Kolaj Institute Solo Residencies - New Orleans

Kolaj Institute’s solo residencies in New Orleans are designed to provide artists, curators, and writers with dedicated time and space to work on a project. Residencies may be 1 or 2 weeks. Kolaj Institute provides housing and studio space. Once accepted, Kolaj Institute meets with the resident for a pre-residency assessment where we identify community partners and other resources that can support the project. We then work with the resident to design a plan for their time in New Orleans.

We are open to your ideas. We are looking for artists with an articulated goal for their time in New Orleans. That goal need not to be explicitly related to New Orleans, though priority will be given to those artists whose projects need time in New Orleans.

International Artist Redidency 2022

FARM Studio International Artist Residency’s aim is to provide a rural, community-based open platform where creativity can unfold. Residents stay and create in a unique atmosphere and entirely new environment where they can develop their artwork free from accustomed distractions. Relationships form between the artists coming from different geographical locations and varied social, religious and cultural backgrounds. Here, collaboration and experimentation is encouraged. Many exciting exchanges and dialogues among artists take place. Farm Studio also promotes and celebrates the local community’s artistic and cultural identity while also introducing art and culture of others (Indian and International guests) back to the community.

Residency in the Colombian Mountains. Two Months June-July 2022

Announcing artist residencies designed for the reopening of Colombia; for visual artists, musicians, writers, architects, clay artists, performers, and other makers.

We’re not quite out of the woods on the COVID epidemic, but international travel has been reopening all around the world. Back in March ‘20, we went into lockdown with 13 artists and learned a lot in the process. Since then, we’ve hosted another dozen or so artists with extra precautions to keep everyone safe, yet maximize the artist’s experience. We believe that a key part of the AIR experience is the commensality – those wonderful conversations we have while sharing a glass of wine and a good meal, along with the freedom to focus on your work.

The Factory Artists-in-Residence Program

The Artist in Residence (AiR) program takes place at The Factory on Willow which is a community for creators, entrepreneurs and innovators to live, work and play. Originally a shoe factory built in the 1900’s, it has since been transformed into 61 spacious studio apartments and 16 uniquely themed Airbnb studios. They have dedicated 2 of these studio apartments to the Artist-in-Residence program which is the home of two artists that are selected for each season of the year.
