Marking Lives COVID-19

Conceived and launched by Concord-based visual artist Elizabeth Awalt, “Marking Lives COVID 19” is born from a desire to acknowledge and commemorate lives lost in the U.S. to the COVID 19 pandemic. Elizabeth invites artists and community members to make 1,000 marks of any kind to create original artworks. Artworks are digitally documented and shared in a collective social media based tribute to lost loved ones. This creative community project offers healing from our collective grief and trauma together. Once “Marking Lives COVID 19” has “marked” every life lost to COVID in the U.S., it will serve as a memorial to this tragic era, similar to the powerful AIDS Memorial Quilt.
