Get to Know Us

Founded by art collectors Alex Mitow and James Miille, Superfine! started out in 2015 as an alternative to boring, stuffy art shows and complicated art world politics. From the start, we caught flack from the art establishment when we broke down barriers and opened the gates to everyone from serious long-time art collectors to people who just love art and never thought they’d collect.

As it turned out, nobody cared about the art world and their politics. Our open and transparent approach worked: imaginations have been sparked and countless new collections have been jump-started at Superfine! fairs as we continue to spread our message of a more inclusive art market across the country. Since 2015, we’ve had one goal: produce badass, expertly curated art shows where über-talented, diverse global artists meet their new fans in iconic locations across the US and beyond.

Emerging Artists Series

The Foundry Art Centre is now accepting proposals for a rotation of solo exhibitions by promising emerging artists. The Emerging Artist series provides a venue, the Ameristar Gallery at the Foundry Art Centre, for early-career artists to show their work to a regional audience. The ideal Emerging Artist would be out of school (not a student) and would not yet achieved significant recognition for his or her work. Proposals must include 10 images of a cohesive body of work, an artist statement, and an artist bio. This opportunity is available to artists 18 years and older, worldwide. The deadline to submit a proposal is Saturday, February 29, 2020. Selected proposals will be assigned exhibition dates upon completion of the jurying process. For complete guidelines and to apply, visit www.foundryartcentre.org.

JURYING PROCESS

The Emerging Artist Series is coordinated by the Foundry Art Centre Artist Advisory Board. Members of the Artist Advisory Board volunteer their collective wisdom and expertise to assist in the overall development and implementation of exhibitions. The deadline to enter is February 29, 2020. The selections will occur in March 2020. Artists will be notified and exhibition dates assigned upon completion of the jurying process.

EXHIBITION SPACE

The Ameristar Gallery is an exhibition space of approximately 1400 square feet located on the first floor of the Foundry Art Centre. This gallery is best suited for two-dimensional work as it is also used as a meeting space for guests and organizations. Images of previous Ameristar Gallery exhibitions are available in our Emerging Artist Series Archive on our website, www.foundryartcentre.org.

The Foundry Art Centre is a dynamic, interactive center dedicated to the creation and presentation of contemporary visual and performing arts. Our mission is to connect people with the Arts through exhibitions, studio artists, performances and educational classes.

PUBLICITY

The Foundry Art Centre reserves the right to photograph and reproduce, in color or black & white, all artworks accepted, regardless of copyright, for educational and/or publicity purposes.

ENTRY SPECIFICATIONS

Submit 10-12 jpegs of prepared pieces. Please no video submissions. Limit each jpeg to 1024 pixels on the longest side. No ceiling-hung work will be considered.

Artists may submit entries the following ways:

1. the FAC website using the online form

2. via email to exhibitions@foundryartcentre.org.

Entries over email must be accompanied with an image list. All jpeg images must be labeled to correspond with this list. For example, a jpeg labeled 1_File will be the first image listed, followed by 2_File, 3_File, etc. The image list must contain the following information for each piece of artwork submitted: Title, Dimensions, Media, Year Completed, Price or Value if not for sale. Submissions that do not comply with these rules will not be presented for the jurying process. Artists must also submit an Artist Statement and Artist Bio. No CV or resume should be included.

SALES, LIABILITY, AND INSURANCE

The Foundry Art Centre will retain a 35% commission on all sales directly attributed to the exhibition. All prices set by the artist at the time of entry should include the 35% commission. The price will remain the same for the duration of the exhibition. The Foundry Art Centre provides standard insurance at 50% of retail on all exhibited works while on premises. Artists are responsible for work in transit to and from.

DELIVERY AND PICK-UP

Accepted works are to be hand-delivered or shipped in a reusable crate(s)/carton(s). Include with each work one 3”x5” card listing Artist’s Name, Address, Phone, Title, Media, Dimensions, and Price. Attach card to the back of work. Accepted works must remain for the duration of the exhibition. Works must be shipped at the artist’s expense to the Foundry Art Centre. Accepted artists shipping their work must include prepaid charges for return shipping. Shipped artwork submitted without pre-paid return shipping labels (no stamps) will be disposed of at the close of the exhibition. Hand-delivered work must be picked up at the close of the exhibition or work becomes property of FAC to dispose of as it sees fit.

Prizes:

Once juried in the accepted artists will have the chance to display their work in our Ameristar gallery during a scheduled exhibition in our other gallery spaces.
