Eligibility:

Left field. Throwing something at the wall.  (Un) Happy accidents.  "F**KING IT UP" is about embracing imperfections. We are seeking works from any genre of art that are somehow accidental, experimental, mishaps, (un)intended, rough cuts, strokes of (non)genius, "oops," multiple attempts, frustrations, "give ups" (unfinished/finished), outtakes, and convey the artistic spirit of "let's try this!".  Work could be funny, folksy, campy, and/or vulgar, but the art should still be commercially appealing.  When applying, please include the story behind the work and why you feel it is "F**KING IT UP" material!

We are also seeking artwork from working artists that is non-typical for their portfolio (i.e. ceramics made by a painter).

Please Note:  we are not looking for poor quality and shoddy works of art. Work should be in presentable (and stable) condition.

"F**KING IT UP" In-Person opening reception party will be held Saturday, August 20th, 2022 at 6 PM.  Show will run approximately until the 2nd of October.

We are aware of limitations of access and challenges of both the film industry and the art world, and our mission is to support the emerging talent in the field of moving image as a multidisciplinary endeavour, creating a community that provides space for growth and mutual encouragement.

Our event will include a screening, artists' talks, and a space for informal networking opportunities for filmmakers, moving image and sound artists, musicians. Everyone welcome.

Group Exhibition in Rome or Milan city. October 2022

Paradigm of modernity, since the first half of the 20th century, photography has become a means through which authors such as Florence Henri, Man Ray, László Moholy-Nagy, and many others, offer new visions of reality: all this is done by observing, analyzing and asking questions on several levels, such as a scientific, cultural, and social one, regarding objects / subjects, but also regarding the role and the deepest meaning of the photographic act.

Thanks to the advent of the digital world, its applications and its operational transversality, new techniques, procedures and conceptual approaches to the "writing of light" are today in continuous evolution. Contemporary experimental photography proposes new languages and new aesthetics concerning the experience of man in the relationship with the environment and its perception.

The Uncanny

Country:

Eligibility:

When the familiar becomes unfamiliar, we call it uncanny. That is to say, when something almost satisfies our brain’s search for human likeness, but falls short by a small margin, we experience a characteristic sense of unease at the sight of it. This is our understanding of what it is about realistic androids and almost-perfect-but-not-quite CGI that makes our skin crawl, and it stems from Freudian theory surrounding the German word “unheimlich.” Freud tells us that the unheimlich, or unhomely, is our experience when confronted with something that is like home to us, but is made wrong somehow. How do you incorporate the unheimlich, or uncanny, into your artwork? Does your work illicit a visceral reaction from the viewer, or traverse the boundary between perfect and imperfect human likeness? We want to see your most uncomfortably human and impalpably imperfect images.
