medienfrische

The Tyrolean Bschlaber Valley lies at an altitude of 1,400 meters and is one of the most remote places in Austria. Today, fewer than 90 people live there, with an aging population and rural exodus taking their toll on the region. For the fifth time, medienfrische is taking place there over 21 days. medienfrische is a contemporary art and media festival that focuses on current developments. The landscape and the completely different way of organizing everyday life in the valley require new and unconventional ways of thinking and ideas, as well as a questioning of conventional ways of working and living.

Landscape Exhibition

LANDSCAPE EXHIBITION

OPAL is looking for artwork that depicts the artist's interpretation, relationship, or experience with the landscape theme. All mediums will be accepted (drawing, painting, mixed media, digital/new media, printmaking, photography, ceramics, fiber, sculpture, etc).

This show welcomes diverse visions of the world outdoors. Here are a few ways to interpret what landscape art can be:

● Re-imagine everyday environments as new frontiers.

● Pay homage to pastoral scenes rich in heritage, or depict urban jungles thrumming with activity.

● Reveal the nostalgia of fading rural relics and uncover beauty in overlooked metro corners.

● Compare and contrast urban and natural environments.

AIR: Commons, Chaotic Fluid, Inspiration

The Nature, Art & Habitat Residency: An ECO-Laboratory of Multidisciplinary Practice is an art program hold in Taleggio Valley (Italy) and Santa Ynez (California) that aims to unfold and display a sensitive culture that responds to nature’s needs and uses nature’s insights as a source of inspiration and as measure of impacts on available resources. The ultimate goal of NAHR is to uncover intimate links between all living organisms in order to support more resilient development where humans and nature can successfully coexist.
