“Water” International Open Call to Artists and Writers—Deadline June 30, 2025

The artist's and writer's call for the ArtAscent Art & Literature Journal WATER issue is now open.

Water nourishes, cleanses, and renews. A drop of water can save a life. A torrent of water can destroy it. Water moves along the path of least resistance, yet can carve mountains. It can take the form of solid, liquid, and vapour. The meanings of water run deep across cultures and time, as seen in rituals, myths, and modern narratives. Reveal your visions of WATER—through images, words, or any 2D medium that invites us to see what we haven’t noticed before or evokes a sense of freedom in interpretation.

“Abstraction” International Open Call to Artists and Writers—Deadline April 30, 2025

The artist's and writer's call for the ArtAscent Art & Literature Journal ABSTRACTION issue is now open.

Abstraction empowers creators and viewers to explore new dimensions of meaning through colours, shapes, and forms. It encourages us to challenge our perceptions and discover deeper truths often missed in direct expression. By embracing abstraction in visual art and literature, we enrich our understanding and ignite our imaginations, breaking free from traditional confines. Share your reflections on ABSTRACTION—through images, words, or any 2D medium that conveys the unexpected or evokes a sense of freedom in interpretation.

“Resolutions” International Open Call to Artists and Writers—Deadline February 28, 2025

The artist's and writer's call for the ArtAscent Art & Literature Journal RESOLUTIONS issue is now open.

Personal resolutions can motivate us to change our behaviour and reach new goals. Higher resolution brings clarity to videos, peaceful resolution brings prosperity to clashing nations, formal resolutions bring change in stagnant organizations, the resolution of a plot solves a story’s main conflict, and New Year’s resolutions bring promise of a better year ahead. Share your RESOLUTIONS with words or images, in a realistic, abstract, surreal or unexpected way.

“Figures” International Open Call to Artists and Writers—Deadline December 31, 2024

The artist's and writer's call for the ArtAscent Art & Literature Journal Future issue is now open.

Figures of human or animal form. Figures of life, imagination, history, mythology and allegory. In costume, in none. In lightness, in darkness. In dignity, in shame. Of everyday, of me, of you. Share your FIGURES with words or images, in a realistic, abstract, surreal or unique way.

ArtAscent is a theme-based publication and online exhibition that showcases artists and writers from around the world practising a broad range of skills, including painting, illustration, photography, mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, textile, jewelry, printmaking, digital graphics, fashion, film, video, installation, performance, story writing and poetry writing.

“Floral” International Open Call to Artists and Writers—Deadline June 30, 2024

The artist's and writer's call for the ArtAscent Art & Literature Journal Future issue is now open.

Florals paint our planet in ways that can captivate and heal. They represent a wide range of emotions and ideas, with red roses symbolizing love and white lilies representing new beginnings. We enjoy blossoms as hobbies, flavours, gifts, garnishes, perfume, careers, dyes, medicine and art. But they also have a dark side, with poisons that cause blisters, breathing difficulties and death. Uncover your perspective on FLORALS in a realistic, abstract, surreal or other unique way.

“Abstract” International Open Call to Artists and Writers—Deadline April 30, 2024

The artist's and writer's call for the ArtAscent Art & Literature Journal Future issue is now open.

Abstractions are all around us. Ideas can be abstract; existing as an idea, feeling or quality but not having a tangible existence. Some conversations can be abstract, vague and theoretical and not based on particular examples or facts. And of course, there is abstract art which evokes feelings without trying to realistically represent the appearance of people or things. Abstract art, like poetry, offers a fragment of a mysteriously familiar narrative without directly revealing it in a realistic way. Reveal your most ABSTRACT thoughts.
