The Arc Project: Humans from Mundane to Mythical

Calling all artists, this is more than just an ordinary portrait show. It’s a visual exploration of creativity and humanity!
Humans make for fascinating subjects. As artists, we start with the simple task of capturing the spirit of being human in our works. We navigate the many challenges -- limitations of media and skill, discomfort, emotional visceral interactions and reactions -- yet we yearn to say something, capturing an essence that sometimes only we can see. This is the point where this exhibit begins -- with human beings in front of us; extracting from life the ordinary and mundane to the fantastical and mythical! All representations are valid ways to celebrate the beautiful arc of our humanity -- that shared experience which celebrates us!

Trees

TREES. Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC) is seeking submissions for an online exhibit on Artsy exploring our
relationship to trees. Whether you are a city dweller, suburbanite or live in a rural environment, trees are part of our
daily existence. They provide shade, beauty, oxygen, home to birds and animals and a timeless presence in our everyday
lives. In honor of the arrival of spring, please send 3-5 images of artwork involving trees.

Online Exhibition Dates: APRIL 15 – JUNE 1, 2023

BWAC is pledging 15% of proceeds from sales in the online TREES show to The Brooklyn Botanic Garden to support their
efforts in keeping New York green.

Beyond Mud: Ceramics in 2023

A NATIONAL JURIED ART EXHIBITION MAY 13  to JUNE 18, 2023
Beyond Mud: Ceramics in 2023, a national juried art exhibition sponsored by the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition, is seeking ceramic work that explores ideas about form using clay. We are interested in work that is beautiful, exciting, edgy, unusual and/or wonderful. Functionality is not required.

Curator: Sandra Forrest
Juror: Talia Shiroma, Curatorial Assistant, Arts of the Americas and Europe at the Brooklyn Museum

In late May, during the show, BWAC will participate in the Brooklyn Ceramic Arts Tour, a three-day Open Studios Brooklyn-wide event.

Recycle 2023

Recycle 2023, the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalitions national juried show of art crafted from castoff, discarded, and repurposed materials, will be a celebration of ingenuity and imagination. We are seeking to exhibit sophisticated two and three dimensional art created in the reuse genre. BWAC is seeking original artwork from artists working in repurposed materials. Entries must incorporate at least 50 percent of repurposed, recycled, or reused materials. The theme is open to any medium resulting in 2-Dimensional or 3-Dimensional work. As well as looking for skill in the use of material, we want to see art that demonstrates the importance of conserving our limited natural resources.
