Artist Open Call - New Portraits from England`s History

English Heritage is commissioning an England-based artist who defines themselves as either of the African diaspora, Black, African, African-Caribbean, Afro-Latinx, African-American or mixed heritage, to create a portrait celebrating the life of a person of the African diaspora whose story has contributed to England’s rich history.

This portrait of a male leader of African descent, whose name will be provided by English Heritage to the commissioned artist, will be hung at an English Heritage site in the North of England. English Heritage particularly welcomes applications from artists based in the North of England for this opportunity. 

Artist Call Out: "I Matter" an exhibition at Babylon Gallery, Ely Cambs

Black Curator and Artist, Olu Taiwo, is seeking innovative creative responses to the theme of ‘I Matter’, specifically targeting artists and groups from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds and communities residing in England.

Olu Taiwo is currently taking part in the Babylon Young Curators Programme; a year-long professional development opportunity with Babylon Arts for young people aged 18 – 25.  As a Babylon Young Curator, Olu is presenting an exhibition called ‘I Matter’ at Babylon Gallery in Ely, from 9 April – 3 May 2021.  Work is sought from approximately 10 – 15 artists that best portray the theme. Responses to this open call should interrogate the powerful declaration, ‘I Matter’, and its recent complex iterations.

BRILLIANT ideas wanted: UK public invited to create artwork for leading light art festival

Artichoke, the producers of extraordinary large-scale events, have launched BRILLIANT, a £50,000 nationwide commissioning scheme for new works for the UK's leading light art event. Six awards will be made, with the works to be shown alongside those of internationally-renowned artists at Lumiere, which is commissioned by Durham County Council and takes place in Durham from Thursday 18 – Sunday 21 November 2021.

Call for Expressions of Interest: Royal Docks Team Creative Commission Autumn 2021

Royal Docks Team are inviting Expressions of Interest for an ambitious, live performance commission for family audiences in the Royal Docks in Autumn 2021. 

We are looking for ambitious and bold ideas that can creatively, and practically, deliver on our objectives to:

Position the Royal Docks as a place of innovation, making, ideas, and experimentation.

Actively involve, and feel relevant to, Royal Docks’ young people

Be inspired by, and rooted in, the people and place of the Royal Docks.

Support the wider Royal Docks creative community through sharing/show and tell opportunities.

Be inclusive and connect diverse communities.

Double Vision

We are seeking artwork that touches on two ways of seeing things or that encourages an open mind and heart—or simply art that makes you look twice or examine it more closely. The double vision could involve a diptych or two media or a mix of time periods. Have fun with the theme and surprise us with your interpretation! Open to all media, 2D or 3D.

This is a juried national exhibition. Submission by online jpgs. All work must be for sale. Maximum width 36". 50% gallery commission. Minimum sale price: $600.

$15 for one image, limit of 5 entries per artist. Juried by a committee of Bromfield Gallery artists.
