- About -

With a research background focusing on indigenous and photographic arts, Rose Vickers founded SV Consulting, Sydney’s first specialized photography, video and text art consulting firm, advising on private and corporate collections with Co-Director and academic Dr. Gary Sangster (University of New South Wales; Arts Catalyst, London). Going beyond the traditional role of the art advisor – and with the view to draw together domestic and international artists within convergent curatorial programs tailored to private sector organizations – her Directorship emphasized relationships with leading commercial galleries to establish notable niche exhibitions. Prior to her time with SV Consulting, Vickers worked on the Aboriginal Art Market 100 (AIAM100) database, writing biographies and drafting analytic and predictive material on the hundred top-ranked Indigenous Australian artists. While completing her postgraduate program, Rose worked as an international runway model with agencies across Australia, Europe and Asia. She is the former Director of Donald Ellis Gallery in New York. Her extensive international work was supported by national research grants, including the Australian Postgraduate Award for continuing investigation in the arts. From 2009 she has conducted arts-related research into coastal areas of Indonesia and Mexico. Her focus on contemporary and first nations art builds on opportunities arising from such primary experience. Her writing has been published in anthologies and publications including Oyster magazine, Art World, Art Month Sydney, Un magazine, Das Superpaper, Das500 and Vibewire. She has a Master’s Degree from the University of New South Wales as well as the University of Sydney, where she is currently a PhD candidate in art history.
