Woman Made Gallery's Feminist Biennial juried by Ashley Wynn

Woman Made Gallery seeks submissions for the first iteration of The Feminist Biennial, with the exhibition dates of September - November 2022. This is a group exhibition juried by Ashley Wynn (Recent Director at Monique Meloche Gallery, Board Member at LATITUDE Chicago). This exhibition will be held at Woman Made Gallery located at 2150 S. Canalport Ave., Chicago, IL 60608 in the Pilsen neighborhood.

The Feminist Biennial is a bi-annual exhibition at WMG that puts forward reflections and evolutions of contemporary feminism, as a movement and personal subjective act. It highlights artistic excellence by artists working in any medium and who identify as women and non-binary artists, including trans women and femme/feminine-identifying genderqueer artists.

As legendary historical moments, the first three waves of feminism are well theorized and widely known. The first, woman’s suffrage; second propelled forward by the civil rights act, woman’s sexual and financial freedom; and the third the rise of queer theory, race justice and intersectionality within the feminist moment and sex positivity.

Now speculating the fourth wave, which has yet to be theorized and is less understood, WMG asks what does it mean to be a feminist today? At its core, feminism has been and continues to be a personal and collective reclamation of power in a patriarchal world that undervalues and devalues feminine-presenting expressions of self.  It is a lived experience, a daily act, and held in community to makes sense of the world through a feminist lens. WMG's Feminist Biennial as an exhibition seeks to provide a platform for marginalized voices to put forth artwork that explores feminist thought, action, intersectionality and lived experience in 2022.

As a juried exhibition, each iteration of the Feminist Biennial offers applicants the unique opportunity to have their work reviewed by esteemed arts professionals and industry connectors. The exhibition then results from a highly selective juried competition and presents work across career levels.  Awards include cash prizes or an additional two-person exhibition a WMG in spring 2023. A committee of professionals including the juror will award a two-person exhibition opportunity to awardees based on merit and the spirit of the exhibition.

Woman Made Gallery seeks artwork in all mediums. We encourage intersectional feminist approaches and lived experiences considering gender and sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, and/or disability, among other social locations.

ART4T is calling young European emerging artists to apply for a non-formal training programme based on the co-creation, together with three internationally renowned artists, of new works to be produced and exhibited during BAM Biennale Arcipelago Mediterraneo.

Deadline for submission: June, 3 2022.

Art Rethinks Transformation for Training (ART4T) seeks twelve emerging artists for a non-formal professional training program based on sharing the creation process.

To lead the work and collaborate in the production, ART4T calls three internationally renowned artists: Egle Oddo, Gry Worre Hallberg and Başak Şenova. They have the task of involving the selected young artists in production-oriented learning activities, based on a shared creative process and on the experimentation of new models and tools.

The artistic production will be presented at the next edition of BAM - Biennale Arcipelago Mediterraneo, scheduled in Palermo starting from September 2022. For young artists it will be an opportunity to enter the international artistic working world and consolidate their own creative network.

ART4T is:

- 20 emerging artists aged 18/35

- 3 internationally renowned artists - Egle Oddo, Gry Worre Hallberg, Basak Senova

- 3 trainings sessions – online, in Palermo at BAM, in Copenhagen at Sisters Hope

- 1 opportunity to share the production with the international art world during BAM

Funded by the European Union, ART4T is conceived and promoted by MeNO (Italy) in partnership with Aarhus University (Denmark).

ART4T was born from the belief that art is the result of a collective and collaborative confrontation of the artists with each other and with others and from the encounter of different cultural heritages and social living contexts. Based on this, ART4T explores innovative non-formal training methodologies in the field of interdisciplinary contemporary art, based on sharing the process of artistic creation between teachers and learners.

Chianciano Biennale 2022

Chianciano Biennale is organised by the Chianciano Art Museum. The exhibition showcases contemporary art selected from all around the world presented across a stunning network of 13 distinct art galleries and museum spaces.

The Chianciano Biennale is located in the heart of Tuscany, taking place from Saturday 6th - Sunday 28th August 2022. The Chianciano Art Museum has been showcasing thousands of international artworks for over a decade, making this 2022 exhibition the 7th edition of the Biennale.

The Chianciano Biennale is a part of a network comprising the thirteen Clancianum Galleries and the Art Museum in the town of Chianciano, all coordinated by Gagliardi Gallery. During the 2022 Biennale, artists and attendees alike will roam through the galleries to soak up the permanent collections, the Biennale and other summer exhibitions on display in Chianciano. The cluster of galleries are located up on the hill of the Medieval Old Town, falling back on stretches of the rich green and gold landscape that Tuscany breathes.

Encompassing over 100 artists and artworks, the Chianciano Biennale artworks will be meticulously hung across a cluster of the Clancianum Galleries and the Art Museum. The remaining walls of the Clancianum Galleries and the Art Museum will glow with a showcasing of seven other exhibitions ranging from Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec at the Savoy Gallery to Giorgio Armani at the Chelsea Gallery. The full list of exhibitions and their details can be found on the Chianciano Biennale website.

Great art has never been limited to established powers, therefore our application process is the same- no requirements, just submit the artwork you feel best represents you.

The selection process is rigorous and allows critics and collectors to admire works of excellent quality both in the Art Museum and in the Clancianum Galleries, where contemporary art creates a magnificent contrast with the historic architecture of the medieval town.

2nd International Contemporary Art BIENNALE “NO standART. ‘no holds barred?’”

International Association & Foundation ANIMA MUNDI

2nd International Contemporary Art BIENNALE

“NO standART. ‘no holds barred?’”

1 May/30 May, 2021, Online, worldwide

We don't have to be very insightful to see that the recent events around the world that brought us into a state of chaos did not come out of nowhere. Our generation is facing very big challenge. We are at the historical moment.

What does it happened with this planet, with the nature and humanity? The world is going through a state of shock, and this moment somebody is using to achieve certain goals. Is this what is called a ‘global reset’? And what does it mean?

If you search for this term online, you will come across a huge amount of information revealing the chain of coronavirus, its events, and their consequences. The shock created by the coronavirus (which is probably itself a “hoax”) to turn the world into a high-tech dictatorship that will take away your freedom forever: pharmacy, GMO, 5G, forced vaccine, biometric implants etc.?

Where did we wake up? What does it hidden under the words ‘new normal’? What does it mean ‘reset’? And what is under the words ‘no holds barred’?

We are separating and continue opening ourselves more and more to what is real and what has been an implanted program. At this time, we are under a very important passage for those who are ready to co-create in a new level, for there is a massive human gathering taking place.

Let us remember the Truth behind the many human illusions lets us finally dwell in the higher knowledge that we all possess within, and let us respect those who think different than us. The past no longer exists and the only way out is to move forward from living of old memories that only keep us attached to old scenarios in our current reality.

This year introduces time of changes where freedom, at all levels, will continue being our main task, for there is always more self-liberation if we desire to reach higher levels of consciousness, as there is nothing that takes us apart more from who we truly are.

IAF ANIMA MUNDI is organizing the 2nd International Contemporary Art Biennale “NO standART. ‘no holds barred?” and inviting:

educational and scientific innovators

to join an interdisciplinary program online.

Larnaca Biennale

Larnaca Biennale had its first edition in 2018. With more than 18000 visitors at the main exhibition and more than 4000 spectators attending the parallel events, Larnaca Biennale is the biggest and most popular arts event in Cyprus!
Next edition will take place between October–November 2021. In addition to the main exhibition, the Biennial will host a series of artistic and culture events in the city such as concerts, theatre, performances, lectures etc. Co-organiser is ARTION Cultural Association of Larnaca. Main supporter of the Biennial is the Municipality of Larnaca and a number of art organizations and institutions including ”The Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts, E.KA.TE” and ‘’WAVA, World Association of Visual Arts’’.  If you’re an artist or a photographer, join us for the competition. If you are an art lover join us to experience the Biennale Larnaca 2020-21. Welcome to the beautiful city of Larnaca!

Larnaca Biennale 2020 grapples with limits.
That which is definable inevitably grapples with the question of limits. What is really there is in essence the area it takes up, either tangible or intangible, real or imaginary. Limits change, expand, shift; but they cannot be annulled because then what they define would be annulled too.
In this paradoxical age of utter deconstruction, of a single globalized society, of a single device, a single social model, such notion could sound provocative, perhaps because we often confuse challenging limits with challenging their very existence. The first could be the definition of freedom, the second is a rather superficial version of it. To claim that there are no limits is equivalent to shouting at the top of your lungs to someone standing right in front of you: “To me you do not exist!” But to address someone means to acknowledge they exist.
Creative thinking has always trodden along the border but also, quite often, beyond the limits. The scientist whose vision took him outside the limits of his era; the poet in quest of the impossible; the artist defending to death the unproven – they do not fight to abolish limits; they fight to change them. For humanity, this is the fulcrum of progress.
Are there spaces that do not negotiate their limits? Are there limits in nature or is this a socially constructed notion? Can something exist beyond limits forever or merely for some time? And if yes, at what cost?
In the end, are there any limits?
There are, but they are limitless.
