On view at Supermoon’s Satellite Room, Sat Dec 14th from 12pm to 6pm (Opening Reception 6pm to 10pm) and Sun Dec 15th from 11am to 4pm.

Deadline for submission December 8th

The Ridgewood Tenants Union (RTU) was founded in 2014 and is an all-volunteer, tenant-led and independent anti-gentrification group whose mission is to grow the power of tenants in Ridgewood to collectively fight displacement. We work towards our mission by door-knocking to inform tenants about their rights, holding monthly tenant assemblies, organizing tenant associations, holding know-your-rights trainings, creating neighborhood-wide campaigns, and working in coalition with other housing groups in NYC. One of our current campaigns involves building up opposition against Avery Hall Investments' proposed 24-story luxury tower at 1590 Gates Ave, the site of our community's Food Bazaar Supermarket. This luxury tower will further increase rents in a neighborhood where so many of our neighbors are already rent burdened.

The renowned Akademie Schloss Solitude is happy to announce its 17th call for applications for its international and interdisciplinary artist-in-residence-program which runs through April 30, 2019.

More than 1,400 artists from more than 120 countries have developed and advanced projects at the Akademie since its opening in 1990, creating a close-knit, global network of Solitude alumni that expands from year to year. It is essential for the self-conception of Akademie Schloss Solitude that fellows of all spheres of practice are enabled to work and research free of daily pressures and presentation deadlines. Besides the realization of numerous public events, the online platform Schlosspost allows international visibility of fellows and their projects.

International artists are invited to apply from the following spheres of practice: VISUAL (visual arts and media), AURAL & PHYSICAL (music and performing arts), DIGITAL (digital art, gaming, digital journalism, digital publishing), SPATIAL (architecture and design), TEXTUAL (literature and language), SOCIETAL (education, mediation, theory), SCIENTIFIC (humanities, social, natural and economic sciences).

For the first time in its 30-year history, Akademie Schloss Solitude is expanding its profile with the addition of a thematic call. In cooperation with KfW Stiftung, Akademie Schloss Solitude is launching the new program with the specific content-related focus »Mutations«. To foster transdisciplinary and transcultural dialogue between the arts, sciences and society, young professionals from all fields are invited to engage in this topic in a focused group conversation. Refreshing Feminism

This CALL FOR ART seeks to showcase this new wave of feminist protest art, and pave the way forward to visualizing our diverse identities.

The Pussy Hat demonstrations elevated a simple, hand-made, woman-made pink hat to a central image which connected massive women’s protests across the country and around the world. The Nasty Women exhibitions seemed similarly organic and instantaneous, springing up in cities large and small around the US. The #MeToo phenomenon has also spread like wild fire and continues to empower women to find the courage to address the world from the shared stage of their common experiences. These effective visual and communicative grassroots uprisings herald a new species of artistic power, and new realms of visibility for women through art.  All applicants should submit an artist’s statement about their body of work. Accepted artworks must not exceed 72" horizontally and must not have been previously shown at WMG.

Please note, the application fee for our juried exhibitions is $30 for up images up to three works, plus one detail image per piece if needed. We encourage entries of recent works, but there is no restriction in the creation date.

Artizan Summer Open Exhibition 2018

The Artizan Summer Open Exhibition is back, and this year we’re on tour! Thanks to the sponsorship of London based Edinburgh House Estates, we’ll be bringing our Summer Open to a prominent high street location on Torquay’s Fleet Walk, with a 4-week long exhibition in which we hope to offer space to 100+ artists at the height of the Summer Season.

About the Venue

We have secured a large unit on the lower level of Fleet Walk towards the harbour situated amongst other occupied high street premises including high end retailers and lifestyle brands. We’ll be running the space as a pop-up with access from July 6th to August 17th. From July 6th - 11th we’ll be getting the space up to scratch, creating a white box and installing a professional hanging system with the aim of giving the space a modern urban feel to ensure we can present the exhibition to the highest possible standards.

About the Opportunity

This is a great opportunity to display multiple artists’ work at the height of our season and we will be seeking submissions from artists across the South West to take part. We anticipate that this will be a major event on Torbay’s Cultural Calendar, falling in the height of the Summer Season at the heart of the town centre, and offering an opportunity to show the best of our local talent. We’ll also be inviting national and international artists to submit work, welcoming creatives from further afield into the Bay to demonstrate its value as a place to show and exhibit.

This will be a selective exhibition with works from within the South West and work from further afield judged separately by Artizan Gallery and a group of invited judges. As always, the theme is completely open and we welcome submissions from artists of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
