2020 Evanston Art Center Winter Arts & Crafts Expo






The Evanston Art Center, an arts nonprofit organization dedicated to making the arts
accessible to all, is excited to present an open call to artists for their Winter Arts & Crafts Expo, a juried
exhibition on view November 10 to December 20, 2020. The 18th Annual Expo showcases arts and crafts
by over 140 sele cted artisans, featuring original, handmade works of jewelry, ceramics, wood, leather,
fiber, metal, glass, sculpture, wearable textile accessories, painting, photography, mixed-media, and
WHO CAN APPLY: Local, National, and International Artists

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: All work must be original and made by the artist within the last few
years. Commercial items will not be accepted.

Please note: The Expo Committee reserves the right to refuse exhibition of work not consistent with
these guidelines.

Rising Stars 2019




Rising Stars is a curated, national platform to foster and champion students and recent graduates from BA and MA crafts, design and applied arts programmes across the UK. Rising Stars aims to offer new makers their first step into the market place, through a curated, selling exhibition.

The programme will consist of the Rising Stars exhibition at New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham, that enables new makers to access the market place and collectors; professional development including knowledge transfer and skills exchange, a national symposium; and a catalogue to act as a promotional tool for the selected makers.                          

We are delighted present a professional development award of £500 and a solo exhibition at New Ashgate in 2020 for one of the makers in the exhibition.

The dates are:

·        Exhibition at New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham, 2 March –13 April 2019.

·        A professional development day at the New Ashgate Gallery (date TBC) and a professional development symposium at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, 6 March 2019. The events are free to attend.

Submissions are invited from:

·        undergraduates

·        postgraduates

·        recent graduates who completed their study in last 36 months.

The deadline is 17 January 2019, 5pm. There is no fee for applications. The gallery takes a commission of 50% for the sold artwork.

Rising Stars is managed by the New Ashgate Gallery. Originally established in the late 1950s, the New Ashgate Gallery is located in a seventeenth century listed building in Waggon Yard since the 1970s. During the years, the gallery has administered the profits from craft and art sales to create prizes and scholarships, and for the purchase of artworks for local and national museums. It was one of the first provincial galleries to show artists with an international reputation as well as supporting local talent. Today, the New Ashgate Gallery is a destination for buying the best of affordable contemporary craft by established and emerging makers. The Gallery curates an exciting programme of changing exhibitions and has an affordable gift shop. As a not-for-profit charity, it also fosters emerging makers in partnership with the University for the Creative Arts through mentoring and touring exhibitions such as the Rising Stars competition. It also supports diverse community participation through a programme of gallery and outreach workshops.

Rising Stars 2019 is supported by Billmeir Charitable Trust. It is organised by the New Ashgate Gallery in partnership with the University for the Creative Arts.

Exhibition Opportunity: MAKE 2018



CALL OUT:  'MAKE' is an annual Christmas selling exhibition celebrating the diversity of contemporary craft.

The exhibition focuses on selling handmade, high quality craftwork and connecting makers with our Christmas customers. By highlighting one-off, unique pieces alongside small scale batch production we aim to offer a range of mediums and prices to suit all. 

Make 2018 – runs from 17 November 2018 – 6 January 2019. The exhibition is open to any UK-based craftsperson or designer-maker whose work fits these criteria.  We are particularly looking for makers who produce exciting and contemporary work. 

The Christmas season is a key time for sales; during the run of MAKE 2017 over 16,000 people visited the exhibition, more than 14,000 visited online, and over £29,000 in sales were achieved.

Artist Submission Open Call



The Open Market Brighton is creating a new space to celebrate the creative community in the South. Through curated exhibitions artists will take over The Open Market Square in 2017. We want to hear from established and emerging artists or organisations with a desire to support independent culture in the novel environment of a traditional marketplace.

We are keen to receive submissions in any form including combined arts, photography, painting, craft, performance, installation, design and architecture projects. The Open Market is a melting pot for people of many backgrounds- reflecting this vitality there is no set exhibition theme. Instead work will be curated to create a dynamic experience for the public.

Each successful applicant will benefit from ongoing support from The Open Market including a strong marketing reach, logistical support to those wishing to sell work alongside the exhibitions, and use of indoor space for ticketed events.

Open Call for Exhibition





We are a new contemporary Arts organisation dedicated to organising exhibitions for new contemporary artists across the country and internationally.

We are taking submissions and portfolios now for next years programme of group exhibitions.

Works can be in any medium and based on any theme. Our idea is to put on as many shows as possible of new artists works and to group together artists with similar practices.

We are looking for all mediums, including performance, film, installation, multimedia, music, sound, painting, sculpture and 3d. We prefer artists who are flexible with there practices and willing to take on new challenging spaces with there work.
