Open Call for Art - 6x6x2022

2021 was a great rebuilding year for 6x6. In 2022 we're hoping to exhibit even more amazing artworks from all around the world. Each summer Rochester Contemporary Art Center’s (RoCo) 6x6 exhibition brings together thousands of original artworks, made and donated by celebrities, international & local artists, designers, youth and YOU. Each artist may enter up to four artworks of any medium (2D or 3D). Artworks must be six inches square and signed only on the back, to be exhibited anonymously. Participation is free. All artworks will be exhibited and for sale to the public for $20 each to benefit RoCo. Artists’ names will be revealed to the buyer upon purchase and all artworks remain on display through the end of the exhibition.

Paradigm of modernity, since the first half of the 20th century, photography has become a means through which authors such as Florence Henri, Man Ray, László Moholy-Nagy, and many others, offer new visions of reality: all this is done by observing, analyzing and asking questions on several levels, such as a scientific, cultural, and social one, regarding objects / subjects, but also regarding the role and the deepest meaning of the photographic act.

This Show is Curated by a Machine

The Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art invites all artists worldwide to submit work for our final show of the year, This Show is Curated by a Machine to directly answer the Whitney Museum of American Art's curatorial question "The Next Biennial Should Be Curated by a Machine."

The curator, an AI bot machine, will learn to curate by looking at the art of the 2021 mowna Biennial.

Artists may submit up to 10 works of art per submission. Selected artists will be paid 70% of ticket and membership sales from the show, with the other 30% paying for the creation of the platform. There is no submission fee to apply.

Hindsight: The Untold Stories of 2020

Hindsight is a collection of stories about 2020, written by people just like you. We’re seeking stories from around the world that capture what it was like to wake up every day to a new normal — whether that means navigating emergencies as a first responder or tying the knot over Zoom. We're particularly interested in material that gets up close and personal with the struggles of 2020, rather than headlines or commentary on current events.

Hindsight is an independent, one-time publication. Content will be made available in two forms: Some stories will be shared on our website; the very best submissions will be compiled into a print anthology, which will be published in 2021.

Submission fee: None

Length: Up to 2,000 words

Deadline: Rolling
