"PILOTENKUECHE" is an international art program based in Europe's boomtown Leipzig, Germany. The indipendent project is artist run with the aim to support artists.

The project invites within the “International Residency Program” selected artists from around the world to come and work in the 465m² communally used, fully remodeled space for a period of three months, with 24h studio access. Each accepted artist is offered a partial stipend. We maintain engagements with several partners, and by introducing our artists to these, make it possible for participants to cooperate with and exhibit in other venues. Our concept encourages experimental strategies and embraces a trans-disciplinary ethos, aiming to provide our participants with the experience of accomplishing something collectively. In a group of around twelve international artists working in the space and two local participants participating on our program activities, a stimulating dialogue becomes vital in fostering an independent position in one's work while binding the individuals temporarily within the group, which leads to a long-term network that exists even after the program is over.

The program activities consists of

  • studio visits and open studio if the group is interested
  • contact to the local art szene,
  • organized museum tours,
  • scheduled art critiques,
  • two group exhibitions in interesting venues.

The studio space consists of:

  • one furnished up to 36m² large space per artist in our 465m² large communal loft hall including wifi and all side costs (water, heating, energy, kitchen, toilet etc.)
  • desk, little stroage space
  • depends on the work of the artists, but two walls to work on
  • large windows
  • approximately twelve artists per month working in the space
  • furnished shared tea kitchen with fridge, microwave, hotplate
  • Common area

Participating artists are expected to participate with the program objectives, to contribute to a collective enterprise, and be open to work with others. We organize two exhibitions in interesting venues, which are non obligatory, but they increase the artists visibility, would be sad not to take advantage of it.

Artists from all artistic disciplines (installation, videoart, sculpture, electronic music, painting, drawing, performance, photography, net art etc.) are invited to send us an application.

Participants receive all documentation necessary to apply for funding and the visa process. If required, the project can assist with additional individual reference letters. We’re looking for artists to participate on our program in the 45th round from October – December 2020

REAKTOR Potenziale

City:

Eligibility:

The REAKTOR’s cross-disciplinary programme features works that are imbued with the spirit of the times. Indeed, what is still considered experimental today may well one day be perceived as timelessly permanent. That is particularly true of contemporary art. The REAKTOR’s call for concepts is designed to seek out that very potential in the visual arts, hence the title Potenziale. Particular emphasis is to be placed on space-defining art for the REAKTOR’s architectural core, i.e. its main hall.

Selection criteria:

  • Art experience | The Open Call is looking for works that address the topic of reason and emotion.
  • A balance between conceptual depth and material precision | Previously completed works featured in the portfolio will be taken into consideration when assessing the submission.
  • Preference will be given to objects and/or concepts that make full use of the main hall’s sizeable volume.
  • Site specificity | Optionally a dialogue is to be sought with the genius loci (in terms of architecture and/or content).
  • Feasibility | Budget, public safety
Prizes Details:

The chosen artists will be invited to flesh out and implement their submitted concept as part of a 1-2 week’s residency in July 2020 and then showcase it to the public as part of an exhibition.

The application is a single-stage process. A description, sketches, and an enclosed portfolio of earlier works are sufficient. The REAKTOR team will be on hand to assist with the finalisation and support the implementation. A budget of up to EUR 3,500.00 is available for the exhibition production, together with practical assistance from the REAKTOR’s technical team.

Margate Film Festival artist commission

Share

City:

Eligibility:

Margate Film Festival is a project born out of the turbulence of changing cultural landscapes and a love for the chaos of creativity – a journey through the wilderness of the cinema.

The festival connects local communities and artists with national and international initiatives to create a DIY, collaborative film & visual arts celebration. This year it will expand to include artists moving image, audio-visual installations and a programme of talks, overlapping with the Turner Prize.

The 2019 festival explores the theme of ‘Against The Tide’, collating stories of political and personal change; exploring migration, transformation and evolution of landscapes, and that of both individual and communal heritage and identities.

We are looking to commission new and innovative audio-visual works that take film beyond the screen, as well as talks, installations and educational opportunities.

We are offering grants of up to £1,000 or options for ticket splits. We would expect most pitches to be under £500. The call-out is open to all creatives, local and international, of any background, experience level, medium or style.

Eligibility:

The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh announces a request for proposals for its annual Tough Art Residency Program. The residency invites artists to work in the museum to develop and create artworks that will be exhibited fall/winter 2020.

This residency offers a $5,000 honorarium, $3,500 materials budget, access to fabrication facilities, marketing and documentation services, and an opening reception. Out-of-town artists are provided with housing and transit to/from Pittsburgh. The residency runs June through mid-September 2020; artists are expected to be in Pittsburgh for the duration of the residency.

Members of the museum’s exhibition staff work hand in hand with artists to produce interactive and innovative artworks that have a direct impact on the visitor experience. Throughout the residency, artists work collaboratively with staff to build prototypes, test ideas on the museum floor, and fabricate and install a finished work that is “tough” enough to thrive in a hands on environment.

We seek submissions from artists who represent the broad spectrum of the greater artist community. We value diversity in age, gender, ethnicity and gender expression as well as diversity in medium.
