The Mendocino Art Center (MAC) hosts the seventh annual Mendocino Open Paint Out (MOPO), a plein air festival. The Mendocino Coast, located along a beautiful expanse of the Pacific Ocean in northern California, is a spectacular setting for a plein air festival. Artists claim that the quality of light is unlike anywhere else in the world.

From the rugged surrounding landscape, to the bay and beaches, to the quaint Victorian architecture and water towers in the town of Mendocino, to the nearby vineyards and wineries, artists are sure to find abundant creative inspiration. And, you will remember the beauty and tranquility of the Mendocino Coast long after your visit.

Royal Society of Marine Artists

The RSMA seeks submissions of art inspired by the sea and marine environment

Artists are invited to submit works for exhibition alongside members of the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) at their Annual Exhibition 2019.

Any artist over 18 may submit.

Subject matter must be essentially marine in nature, relating in some way to tidal waters of the world; topographical, historical, still life, and figure painting are all welcomed. Works relating to non-tidal rivers, inland lakes and waterways etc are not permissible. 

Acceptable media: Oil, acrylic, watercolour, original prints of any media, mixed media, drawings, pastels, or sculpture.

Tempera Painting and 24K Gold Gilding Workshop in NYC - April 22-27, 2019

Dacia Gallery: Is pleased to announce Byzantium to the Renaissance: Egg Tempera and Gold Gilding Workshop in New York City. This workshop is intended as an introduction and revival of the centuries old tempera painting and gold gilding techniques for modern painters. To inspire and create stunning modern paintings with the knowledge, materials and techniques of the Byzantine and Renaissance masters. Students will learn to paint in egg tempera and water gild 24K gold leaf with centuries old Byzantine techniques and secrets of the renaissance master painters, from Duccio and Giotto to Simone Martini and Fra Angelico. Specific images have been selected to paint for this project that each student will be able to learn the most techniques from.

Artists Residency in Saint-Raphaël, France

Have you dreamed of working in another country? France in particular? How would living in another country inspire you? This program is designed for the professional to leisure artists to come to France to live and work in a fully equipped, significantly subsidized, ceramic studio. All arts are welcome.The residency program studio is hosted in the beautiful port town of Saint- Raphaël, in “the Var” region of France. The Var is an area of France that borders the Côte d'Azur.

“Spring | Rebirth” Digital Art Contest

Pixarra and TheBest3D are inviting you to take part in their second joint digital painting competition “Spring | Rebirth” which will be held in March and April 2019. The contest is international and is open to 2D and 3D artists of any level.

Participation is free of charge and has no limitations on the software used to create the submissions.

Entries will be accepted through a submission form on the competition’s official page from March 20 to April 9 and voting will be allowed starting from April 10th.

The winners will be selected by representatives of Pixarra Inc. and TheBest3D and will receive the following prizes:

First Place – TwistedBrush Pro Studio 24 and PD Howler 12

Second Place – Pixarra Studio Bundle 2 and PD Howler 11

Butterbiggens Prize in British painting

 

The Butterbiggens Prize is an experiment to see if an art foundation can be productive on a micro scale. We provide tiny grants for artists in the form of fast food gift certificates.

A showcase for contemporary emerging artists, Artists from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Island, as well as the Channel islands and Crown dependancies are eligble. 

Micro Fellowship for UK painters, juried by a group of Scottish Art Students.

If you include multiple photos one should be an installation shot, We would like to get a sense of scale. Include dimensions and medium, CV is optional.
