Call to Artists: Politics in Collage Residency

A four-week, virtual/online residency with Kolaj Institute in September/October 2021

Collage as a political art form has not only a particular relevance to today but a strong historical context. From its roots in the European anti-facism and Russian pro-communism movements during WWII to its expressions during the U.S. Civil Rights era to its current manifestations in the fight for social justice in South America, collage has been used by artists globally as an impetus for social and political change.

2022 Embracing Our Differences International Art Exhibit Celebrating Diversity

The centerpiece of Embracing Our Differences is an outdoor juried art exhibit featuring 50 billboard size images created by local, national and international artists and writers. The display reflects the artists' interpretations of the theme "enriching lives through diversity." The exhibit is displayed annually at Bayfront Park in downtown Sarasota and will be displayed from January 19 – April 10, 2022. The winning artworks combine a deep understanding of both medium and message

Our Truth, Our Power: An Arts Exhibition By and For Survivors

Calling all survivor-artists anywhere in the world! Survivor Arts Collective is seeking submissions to Our Truth, Our Power — an art exhibition by and for survivors! Creators of all artistic mediums are encouraged to apply. Short stories, poetry, collage, sculpture, painting, music, film, photography -- any and all works that honor and uplift the voices of Survivors & their stories. This exhibition will be launching in mid-April, during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. 

Videos and music must be 5 minutes or less in length & be under 100MB.  Short stories must be 1000 words or less. All submissions must include a content warning for descriptions/depictions of violence. Content warnings can be written as CW: Description/Depiction of Violence.

The Art Guild invites all artists, high school and older, to submit artworks for consideration for “JUSTICE” a Juried Competition and Exhibition. Artwork can say what sometimes words cannot. During these difficult times, we have been inspired to look within ourselves, find ways to “speak out,” and express solidarity and compassion. Show us those emotions and what has empowered and inspired you to address social justice.
