Branding & visual identity of the European capital of culture Nova Gorica - Gorizia 2025

The object of this Competition is the study and creation of a new logo / representative brand that clearly summarises the theme inspiring the event, and which serves as a launching platform and distinctive sign for all activities of the European Capital of Culture project with particular regard to identity and communication. A logo / brand that must be original, innovative, inclusive and "borderless", as the new European capital of the two cities on the border is striving to be original, innovative and inclusive. The visual identity shall be able to address everyone in a clear and engaging way, transferring a positive and modern approach to the great theme of European culture.

Portraiture

Portraiture is one of the most iconic and consistently revisited subjects in art. Since the beginning of civilization, artists have been consumed with the desire to capture the likeness of their fellow human as well as their own. From da Vinci, to Kahlo, to Picasso, to Kehinde Wiley to name just a few of the many famous artists for whom portraiture was a staple in their practice, portraits are not only a way of recording the features and personalities of a subject, they are also a look into the greater collective cultural paradigm.

Photographers are invited to submit 1 to 3 photos addressing the theme.

Group Exhibition in Rome or Milan city. March 2021

Instability and precariousness are concepts that characterize the modern era. The way we experience everyday life responds to a consumerist logic. This logic sees the precariousness of the state of things as urgency in seizing or abandoning the useful object that meets our needs. It's the same for what we now call "relational consumerism".

Group Exhibition in Rome or Milan city. January 2021

Currently, we are living in a post-industrial society, which is, by definition, "a society marked by a transition from a manufacturing-based economy to a service-based economy". So what happened to the urban/suburban factories populating the industrial landscape?
The main focus, here, is centred on pictures showing the decadence of industrial buildings as well as renewed factories, currently fulfilling a different function (museum, art gallery, shop...).
