March PleinAir Salon Online Art Competition

The 15th Annual PleinAir Salon is an online art competition with 11 monthly cycles, and is open to a variety of mediums and styles. It’s not just for plein air painters! We invite a variety of top master artists, museum directors and gallery owners to judge each month. All monthly winners are automatically included in the Annual Competition where the Grand Prize winner receives $15,000 and has their painting featured on the cover of PleinAir Magazine, the #1 representational art magazine at Barnes & Noble.  In addition to over $50,000 in ALL Cash Prizes, winners receive exposure and recognition through our various magazines, websites, newsletters and social media platforms.

Watercolor USA 2026

Watercolor USA is a prestigious national competitive exhibition celebrating excellence in water media painting. Now in its second year at the Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin, Missouri, the exhibition continues a remarkable legacy that began at the Springfield Art Museum in Springfield, Missouri, where it was hosted from 1962 through 2023. Spiva is deeply honored to once again steward this historic exhibition and carry forward its tradition of showcasing outstanding water media artistry.

We are also thrilled to welcome Carol Carter as the juror for Watercolor USA 2026. Her distinguished career and expertise bring an exciting perspective to this year’s exhibition.

Watercolor USA 2025

Spiva Center for the Arts invites artists to submit up to three watercolor works for Watercolor USA 2025.

Watercolor USA 2025 is a national competitive exhibition sponsored by Spiva Center for the Arts, continuing a tradition established by the Springfield Art Museum, Springfield, Missouri, since 1962. The primary purpose of the exhibition is to recognize and encourage excellence in watercolor and water media painting. This will be a juried exhibition, and the work selected will be on display in Spiva’s Freeman Health System Main Gallery from August 23 – October 11, 2025.

This exhibition is open theme and all local, national, and international artists are encouraged to apply. Submissions for this show can be representational or abstract using any textures, patterns, shapes of forms.

Color in the water: Autumn Transformations

Open call for submissions to watercolor artists for an exhibition of contemporary watermedia to be held in Athens this  Autumn. The exhibition is the 8th organization of the initiative "COLOR IN WATER" inspired & established by Greek Art Curator Paris Kapralos aiming to promote artists using watermedia. The submission is addressed to artists who live and work in Greece and Cyprus, regardless of nationality or origin. The official languages of the exhibition are Greek and English, and it will take place at the Luminous Eye Gallery (Acropolis Museum area) in Athens. Alongside the physical art exhibition in Athens, there will also be an option for accessing it as an online exhibition through the ARTgrID platform worldwide.
