Girl Power!

Ever since it made its grand entrance on the popular culture stage thanks to the US punk band Bikini Kill, the term “Girl Power” has steadfastly held its position as a significant (political) catchphrase. “Girl Power” gained more prominence in pop culture after it was embraced by the British pop band the Spice Girls in the late 90’s, transforming it into a significant and appealing slogan. The meaning of ”Girl Power” is a self-reliant attitude among people in ambition, assertiveness, and individualism. In this art show, we wish to pay homage to the voices and the stories woven by women across generations. It is a tribute to the transformations, the triumphs, and the unity that can arise when women unapologetically embrace their individuality and their stories.

Women Environmentalists Art Exhibit

In connection to the eight women environmentalists featured on our site, Women Soaring Project (WSP) will be holding our annual online art exhibit titled "Women Environmentalists". Artists should submit their best 2-D art (i.e., photography, painting, drawing, prints, mixed-media, etc.) related to the "Women Environmentalists" theme, which commemorates and appreciates women who ardently fight to protect the environment in various ways. WSP encourages entries from all individuals regardless of their experience or education.  Everyone over the age of 18 is encouraged to participate.

Open Call for Entries: Women Suffragists Exhibit

We will be showcasing artwork inspired by the women suffragists theme. The focus may be on a particular woman in your life or in history that has positively influenced you in terms of voting or the subject could be on the broader importance of women's suffrage. We are currently holding an open call for entries so you are encouraged to submit artwork to the show.
