HCCC Artist Residency Program

Program Info & Requirements

Media accepted: Wood, Glass, Metal, Fiber, and Clay

Applicants must be able to fulfill a program requirement of working in their studios for two days per week during HCCC public hours:  Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  All resident artists are required to open their studios to public interaction on Saturdays and one other day of the week (TBD), as well as during exhibition openings and specific educational programs on the evenings and weekends. Applicants should consider the public facing nature of the residencies and the fact that a major goal of the program is to provide visitors with an opportunity to explore contemporary craft through engaging with working artists.

Summer Writers Residency 2023

Overview
Banff Centre’s Summer Writers residency will provide writers space for the creative exploration of their writing practice. This self-directed residency offers the opportunity to work away from the constraints of everyday life. Delve deep into your creative project and take advantage of the artistic community of your peers around you.

The program provides optional opportunities for consultations with mentors, public readings, and group sessions led by guest mentors that allow creators to explore techniques, aspects, and devices that you may find useful in your practice.

Emerging Banff Artist in Residence

Overview
Banff Artist in Residence (BAiR) Emerging is an immersive program of studio practice, creative exploration, critical feedback, and mentorship for visual artists of all ages in the early stages of their careers.

BAiR Emerging combines the artistic freedom of a self-directed residency with the supportive benefits of an organized program. As well as having the space to create, research, and experiment, participants are part of a community of emerging artists committed to developing and expanding their practice.

Artist in Residence Fellowship

The Institute for Advanced Study at CEU (Budapest) offers one Writer in Residence fellowship and one Visual/New Media Artist in Residence fellowship in the academic year 2023/24 to provide selected artists with opportunities to conceptualize and create new works. These two residential fellowships (up to 5 months each with a minimum stay of 3 months) are offered on a competitive basis to writers and visual artists, working in creative writing (such as poetry, prose, drama, screen and playwriting) and in various visual media, including film and digital applications. This year’s theme: DIS/PLACE.

Comunidad: A Hispanic/ Latinx Heritage Month Exhibition & Residency Opportunity

Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 to October 15, celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America or other regions that identify with the aforementioned cultures. To celebrate the vibrant and diverse communities we serve, Blue Line Arts will host an exhibition open to Latin and Hispanic artists whose works celebrate or reference their cultural backgrounds, or engage with contemporary political and social issues through their unique cultural lens.
