Statement :

In the pursuit of artistic evolution, “Semi-detached” marks a departure into uncharted territories, exploring intentional camera movement (ICM) and lens masking. These techniques, combined with familiar tools like light painting and color flash gels, converge to embody a state of semi-detachedness. Importantly, no images are altered using Photoshop.

Bio:

William Josephs Radford, born on August 23, 1998, in rural Andalucía, Spain, grew up amidst the natural beauty of the countryside. Showing early artistic promise, he embraced drawing during his village school days. At 15, Radford acquired his first camera, initiating a lifelong passion for photography.

Seeking formal education, Radford left Andalucía for the University of Gloucestershire in the UK. His work is characterized by striking compositions and challenging subject matter, often employing light painting techniques to craft visually captivating narratives.

Radford gained recognition with his series "DEFLOWERED," earning nominations for the Boynes and Refocus awards in 2023, as well as recognition at the 9th Fine Art Photography Awards. Additionally, he was acknowledged as an "Artist to Watch" by the Artist Database in 2022. His work has been featured in publications like "VOL3/101 contemporary artists and more" and "Photography in the Visual Culture 2."

Influenced by transgressive art movements and artists like Andress Serrano, Sophie Calle, and Sally Mann, Radford aims to challenge conventions and leave a lasting impact through his art. His long-term goals include continued growth, experimentation with new techniques, and inspiring others to push their creative boundaries.
