Open Call for Last Minute Applications

We offer artists a peaceful space to work in solitude or with creative people from other countries, developing and exchanging ideas about contemporary art and culture.

There are a maximum of 5 artists in residency at any given time. The small cohort fosters personal connections. We discuss art and culture over aperitivo and visit art exhibitions in nearby towns. Florence is easily reached by public transport.

Artists work independently on a personal project while sojourning for 7 to 90 days in rural Tuscany.

La Macina operates all year-round, welcoming artists of all ages and nationalities. Resident artists are at various stages in their careers and work in all media.

Our facilities are well-equipped for exhibitions, open studios, lectures, conferences, seminars, workshops, and film projection. We publish a yearbook called “The Artistic Time” in order to share the work of all our resident artists with our network.

La Macina di San Cresci closely collaborates with University of Florence, Tuscany Region, Municipality of Greve in Chianti and Tuscany Film Commission to the realization of artistic projects.
