Talking's Tuff, A short survey on rejection

Share

Country:

Eligibility:

One aim of Tuff Luck has always been to represent that feeling we've all experienced yet rarely talk about, rejection. There are many ways to do this, namely through our open calls for work thats been turned down and through giving advice to those who've been feeling rough about it. However, something we are really keen to do is generate our own data on the matter from the experiences many of you have shared with us prior- hence 'Talking's Tuff', a small survey which allows you to open up (anonymously, if you so wish) about your recent short comings. Talking can be tough, especially when it's centred around perceived 'failure', So we want to dissect this topic more through visual diagrams, trends within certain demographics and and short articles/essays on the results to put your mind at rest and show how universally felt it is.

Please check out the form, making sure to fill out all required sections. Please note that leaving your name is optional, you are more than welcome to fill this survey out anonymously.

Cheers,
Team TUFF x

Overview
This workshop-based online program focuses on providing structured support for new fiction writers wanting to improve their writing skills.

What does the program offer?
An energizing, transformative experience designed to help participants take their fiction to a new level, this program is a perfect entry point into Banff Centre’s full suite of Literary Arts programs. This program offers new writers of fiction the opportunity to work on a portion of a manuscript in a workshop setting with editorial faculty. Participants will have the opportunity to work closely with faculty - Katherena Vermette, Michelle Good, and Amber Dawn, as well as partake in Q&A sessions, and one-on-one workshopping. Instructors will discuss ideas, experiences, and obstacles that participants may be encountering with their new manuscripts and emerging practices.

The program will help writers build their critical vocabulary, making them better critics of their own and others’ work. Participants will also learn more about the craft of writing, and about the conventions and possibilities for innovation in fiction.

Merit – not means – drives opportunity at Banff Centre. Participants in this program will receive 100% scholarship for tuition.

Who should apply?
Any new writer of fiction interested in structured feedback from faculty and fellow participants will benefit from this program. The program is open to writers with no publications, a few publications, or even a first book.

Writers from all backgrounds, and all gender identities and expressions working in fiction are encouraged to apply.

*Financial Aid up to 100% available for participants to cover program fees.
