Art Center Sarasota invites Regional Artists to submit work for our upcoming open call, The Figure.

The Figure celebrates a passion for the human form in all media including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, digital arts, and sculpture in any medium. Representational and abstract depictions of the figure are both encouraged and accepted in this open call.

Some notable figurative artists include: Cecily Brown, Alberto Giacometti, Lucian Freud, Jenny Saville, Wilhelm de Kooning, Nan Goldin, Pablo Picasso, and Jordan Casteel.

The Figure refers to the human form and not that of animals or imagined creatures.

2023 Embracing Our Differences International Art Exhibit Celebrating Diversity

Embracing Our Differences is seeking submissions for an outdoor juried art exhibit featuring 50 billboard size images created by local, national, and international artists. The display reflects the artists' interpretations of the theme "enriching lives through diversity." The exhibit will be displayed in three locations in Sarasota and Manatee counties in Florida from January 18 – May 29, 2023. Awards are given totaling $6,000.

-Best in Show, Adult: $2,000
-Best in Show, Student: $2,000 – $1,000 to be directed to the student and $1,000 to their school’s art program, if they worked under the direction of an educator
-People’s Choice: $2,000 – selected by visitors to the exhibit

Annual Regional Juried Exhibition: Faces and Places

 Nine Awards are given per show: First, Second, and Third Place plus two Merit Awards and four Honorable Mention Awards. First place winner receives $800, Second Place $600, Third Place $400, each Merit Award $100 and each Honorable Mention Award $50. All winners are required to fill out a W9 form prior to receiving a cash prize.

Sarasota Architectural Photo Show

Art Center Sarasota invites artists of all ages and skill levels to submit to our photographic show, Sarasota Architectural Photography! This show focuses on the architecture specific to Sarasota and the area around it, so go take a photo of your favorite building, place, or moment and submit!  All submissions submitted online by October 3. Jurors are Carl Abbott & Noelle McCleaf

The exhibit is displayed annually at Bayfront Park in downtown Sarasota and will be displayed from January 19 – April 10, 2022. The winning artworks combine a deep understanding of both medium and message

$3000 total, 3 categories
Prizes Details: 

Awards are given for "Best-in-Show Adult," "Best-in-Show Student," and "People's Choice" categories, with the last chosen by visitors to the exhibit. Adult winners each receive $1,000; students receive $1,000 with $500 to be directed to the student and $500 to their school’s art program, if they worked under the direction of an educator.
