Annual Juried Regional Show: Identity, Exploring the Human Condition

  • Identity, Exploring the Human Condition invites artists to submit work that addresses a sense of who they/we are as individuals, or who we are as a society.

  • These works will highlight the journey, the turmoil, the ecstasy of the human condition.

  • These works may reinforce the underlying communication of emotional truth as only understood by other human beings.

  • Submissions are welcome in all media including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, digital arts, and sculpture.

Juried Exhibition: Large Scale

  • Large Scale displays the creative talent and bold pursuit of artists who make monumental works.  
  • The impact of large scale work is deliberate and it is meant to overwhelm by itself, command a space, and dwarf everything else that comes near it.

Submissions are welcome in all media including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, digital arts, and sculpture.  

Mural Project at Art Center Sarasota

Art Center Sarasota is working with the Boys & Girls Club to create a collaborative art project with the mission to foster community and engage young artists.  The mural is to be painted on the West facing side of Art Center Sarasota’s building, and will be visible from The Bay’s Mangrove Path, welcoming the many visitors enjoying the revitalized bay park.  Art Center Sarasota values the importance of Public Art and believes that bringing children into the creation of this project will help to broaden their horizons, benefiting the community at large.  

Open Call - Black & White Show at Art Center Sarasota

Juried Exhibition: Black & White

"Black & White" showcases the incredible provocative range and beauty found in art that tells its stories without color. Submissions are welcome in all media including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, digital arts, and sculpture.

  • In this monochrome themed show, at least 90% of the artwork should be black and white.

  • Outside of the artwork being Black & White, there are no other thematic restrictions on this exhibition.

The Figure

Art Center Sarasota invites Regional Artists to submit work for our upcoming open call, The Figure.

The Figure celebrates a passion for the human form in all media including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, digital arts, and sculpture in any medium. Representational and abstract depictions of the figure are both encouraged and accepted in this open call.

Some notable figurative artists include: Cecily Brown, Alberto Giacometti, Lucian Freud, Jenny Saville, Wilhelm de Kooning, Nan Goldin, Pablo Picasso, and Jordan Casteel.

The Figure refers to the human form and not that of animals or imagined creatures.

POP!

Art Center Sarasota invites you to submit your best artwork inspired by the theme Pop!  All media are encouraged and accepted.

Juried by Danny Olda, art critic, editor, and independent curator, POP! celebrates the history and legacy of Pop Art and highlights the best Pop Art of the region.
