"Identity in Culture"

Our identities are enlightened and influenced by a surfeit of factors. Social media, politics, technology, and social reform, among so many other attributes, make up various elements of each of our idiosyncratic and multifaceted selves. How have such factors influenced your selfhood? Why did this affect you in the way it did? What is something that had a more profound effect on yourself looking back on your journey than you realized? How have the arts affected, influenced, or encouraged your developing self-identity?

MOVEMENT GROUP JURIED SHOW

What MOVES you? Submit your original or limited edition artwork that has been created within the past two years for the group juried exhibit, MOVEMENT. Many things move. Examples are mechanical objects (cars, trains, boats), light, water, people and so on. Showcase what MOVES in your artwork. Best in Show is voted on by the public and the artist with the most votes wins a $100 cash prize. Enter up to 5 works online via our call for entry portal.

Beauty in the Beasts

Our world is a masterpiece made up of creatures from the largest mammal, the blue whale, to the smallest organisms, and even living beings from our imaginations. These intrigue us, amuse us, comfort us, and sometimes unsettle us, but they mainly enhance and enrich our experience here on earth. This show calls on all fine artists to share with the Healdsburg Center for the Arts your vision of great, small, real or fantastical creatures in your favorite medium.

Entry deadline 30 July 2022; exhibit opens 17 August 2022; Artists’ Reception 20 August 2022.

"Out of Wounds: Art Uncovering Gender Violence"

Gender violence is a direct correlation to gender inequality; a social issue deriving from gender norms, and distinctions or assumptions made on biology. Gender violence includes sexual assault, rape, partner violence, sexual harassment, stalking, sex trafficking, and prostitution. Many people around the world experience a form of gender violence, with the majority being women.

“Out of Wounds: Art Uncovering Gender Violence,” is a platform to allow those who have, or have known someone who has experienced gender violence, to artistically express themselves and their views.  We encourage you to join us on this journey to gender equality, which aims to use art to uncover the multiple forms the patriarchal system uses to oppress women.
