WOODSTOCK BYRDCLIFFE GUILD RESIDENCY - WOODSTOCK, NY - OPEN CALL FOR SUMMER 2022

The Byrdcliffe Arts Colony Artists-in-Residence Program (AiR) offers uninterrupted time and space for creatives in all disciplines. Our serene and rustic mountain community is 2.5 hours north of NYC in Woodstock NY with residencies open to individuals and co-applicants at all stages of their career. Byrdcliffe’s AiR program is particularly beneficial to those who find it restorative to live in a community environment surrounded by natural beauty. Photography Now 2021

Photography Now is CPW’s annual call to discover the most compelling photography projects in the US and beyond. This call is juried by a different leading curator every year.

Photography Now 2021 JUROR

Maya Benton is a curator, photography historian, and writer based in New York City. She has organized numerous international traveling exhibitions, lectures widely, and is a frequent contributor to magazines and museum catalogs where she writes about photography, museums, and material culture. From 2008-2019, she was a curator at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York City, where she established a major archive and organized several of the most widely traveling exhibitions in ICP's history.

SOSUSPS

SOSUSPS is a timely & critical public art exhibition in the tradition of mail art. In support of the 245-year-old U.S. Postal Service, SOSUSPS is seeking original mail art from all walks of people from all corners of the world. Anyone can participate by mailing original artwork through the U.S. Postal Service. Collages, shadow boxes, drawings, illustrated poems, paintings, stamp art, wire sculpture, wooden postcards, knitted letters... Interactive collaborations encouraged.  Mail Art received will be posted to the virtual SOSUSPS Gallery upon receipt.

Photography Now 2020 - The Center for Photography at Woodstock

Photography Now is CPW’s annual call to discover the most compelling photography projects in the US and beyond. This call is juried by a different leading curator every year. The Director’s Purchase Prize is awarded to one individual, whose work is purchased by CPW for inclusion in CPW’s Permanent Print Collection.

Andy Adams is a culture producer and digital director with a passion for visual media + creative communications. Since 2004, he has consulted arts organizations and cultural institutions that use the Internet to engage, inspire, and educate the public.

Fully Funded Opportunity for Artists Affected by Natural Disasters

The Byrdcliffe Art Community has received a generous grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation for visual artists living/working in North America (including Mexico and Puerto Rico) who have been displaced or otherwise affected by a natural disaster.  The Pollock-Krasner grant will offer a full fellowship and stipends to attend the four-week residency in Woodstock, NY in Summer 2020 for up to 4 selected visual artists. The grant will cover all fees plus provide a stipend up to $500 to assist with travel to and from the residency and an additional materials reimbursement up to $500 to help compensate for lost and damaged materials. Eligible disciplines include painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, weaving, ceramics, and other visual media.
