CURRENTS New Media is now accepting submissions for our 2024 Art and Technology festival in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Submission Deadline: November 15, 2023

Festival Dates: June 14 - 23, 2024

Every summer since 2010, CURRENTS New Media presents one of the leading art and technology festivals in the United States. 

Based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, CURRENTS brings together the work of established and emerging new media artists from the USA and around the world.  

This year’s submission categories include:

  • Installations (Interactive and non-interactive)

MetaU Art 2023 International Art Competition

This competition aims to discover young and talented artists based around the world, providing them with opportunities for international exposure. Discover, Recognize and Support to the young artists are the mission of MetaU Art Competition. Winners of the competition will have the opportunity to showcase theirs artworks at major international art fairs in Los Angeles, New York , San Francisco etc.

Call for Artists for International Print Magazine in November 2023

We're excited to share the opportunity to be featured in the November edition of our International Art Magazine for Emerging Artists, publishing date November 2023.

Artists will be given at least 2 pages (spread) in the publication that will feature at least 2 of their works. 
The artist's biography, statement, website and social media handle will be included in the feature.

We will also select in between 4 and 12 artists to be interviewed. The interviews can be done via Zoom (transcribed by us afterwards) or in written form, and are in between 4 and 10 pages long.

Residency Program ZARATAN AIR

DEADLINE | September 15 until October 31, 2023 (24h00)

ELIGIBILITY | Emerging and professional artists, performers, musicians, curators, writers and other cultural agents are eligible to apply. The residency program is designed for international artists - or national artists residing abroad - for the development of artistic projects, individual or collective. Zaratan defends a multidisciplinary and experimental attitude, where all the areas and the languages of the artistic expression are considered.

DURATION | 4 weeks

GRANT | Once a year Zaratan offers a 4 weeks residency grant, which cover the studio and accommodation fees for one artist selected through the applications process.

Sustainable Stories Film Fest and Art Exhibit

The Sustainable Stories Film Fest & Art Exhibit is calling for entries for the 2023 festival.

All pieces touching on any aspect of Sustainability or Disability Visibility are welcome!

The gallery exhibit will be on from Nov. 6 – Dec. 8 at the UHCL Art Gallery, screenings will be at the UHCL Bayou Theater on Nov. 10

Alternate Sensory Reality

ALTERNATE SENSORY REALITY

Filmmakers and artists working with moving image are invited to submit short films for a screening event in Plymouth, UK.

Short experimental films and artists' moving image pieces under 20min in length will be considered for a programme that will aim to bring together perspectives exploring relationships of sensory experience with the world of moving image and sound.

Susan Sontag argued that our perception indeed makes us who we are, more than conceptual knowledge does:
'we are what we are able to see (hear, taste, smell, feel) even more profoundly than we are what furniture of ideas we have stocked in our heads’.
