BLIGHT

Theatre Nova in Ann Arbor will present R.D. Wakeman's play Blight in a staged reading Sunday 27th October 2019. Blight is set in a mansion in an absurdist dystopian world where people and belongings are disappearing from the house and from memory. Food is sparse, there's some sort of blight, pills are prescribed by those in power, a strange circus has come to town, and spies are everywhere. No-one seems too concerned except Nanny but she won't find her way out unless she actually looks for one.

There will be audience feedback following the reading. Thanks to all those involved & to Theatre Nova for including Blight in it's Michigan Playwrights Festival 2019.

LAST MINUTE OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS

The project invites within the “International Residency Program” selected artists from around the world to come and work in the 465m² communally used, fully remodeled space for a period of three months, with 24h studio access. Each accepted artist is offered a partial stipend. We maintain engagements with several partners, and by introducing our artists to these, make it possible for participants to cooperate with and exhibit in other venues. Our concept encourages experimental strategies and embraces a trans-disciplinary ethos, aiming to provide our participants with the experience of accomplishing something collectively.
