The digitization of our world has accelerated faster than ever with the pandemic. We look at ourselves in the reflection on a computer screen and tirelessly wonder who/what we are becoming. Each day is the moment which N. Katherine Hayles defined as “a critical juncture when interventions might be made to keep disembodiment from being rewritten, once again into the prevailing concept of subjectivity.” While the fear of the posthuman world reemerges, others may see this moment as an opportunity to revisit and rethink problematic practices rooted within the history of humanism.

Artists in Residence - Quinta das Relvas is a program of one-month artist residency, that takes place at Quinta das Relvas Association.

A Retreat in Princes' Islands - Tab Residency Summer/Autumn Applications

Organization:

Tab Residency program offers artists a residential space to devote time and focus on creating both individually and collectively. We can no longer offer an exhibition at the end of the residency period since the gallery space has been closed down in March 2020.

Duration:

Tab Residency, founded and run by artists, is open to all contemporary artists throughout the year. We accept residencies minimum one to maximum three months long. The residency periods are organized with open calls for six month periods and applications are accepted before the deadline of the open calls.

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the year 2019 ended with more than 1,200 migrants dying in the Mediterranean Sea and 110,000 arrivals to Europe, which is the sixth consecutive year of massive arrivals.
