Darkness at Noon, a free Contemporary British Painting panel discussion

In these dark times we find out what we are made of; a time of transition for individuals and societies. Alchemy is all about transformation from one state to another, the pursuit of a deeper truth as precious treasure. Alchemists were engaged in the Middle Ages with a physical process, trying to turn base materials into gold through a series of chemical processes, a metaphor for the transformation of the soul. There had to be a nigredo, a dark night of the soul in order to purify it.

Quarantena Exhibition - 30 New Artworks by Steve Kalinda

During the first lockdown, Steve Kalinda created some drawings that were inspired by isolation and space. "It was strange to see London so empty like in a post-apocalyptic film", says Steve. How long will it take for any of us to lose it, if we were stuck on alone on a beautiful island?

A combination of geometric shapes and vibrant colours were collated to create beautiful spaces, I then added a Human silhouette, I wanted the artwork to have a sense of isolation.
