Since 1995, Dr Jurij Alschitz, along with both young and experienced directors and trainers, has been investigating the most relevant themes of the day and opening them up for practical application. The International Directors’ and Trainers’ Colloquium has established itself as a regular gathering in the the beginning of each year in Berlin. It has become a good custom of the World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT at the start of each year to meet up with old colleagues and to welcome new ones. It provides the opportunity to recharge batteries, grapple with new ideas and build new contacts with colleagues from all over the world. In the past, many of these new contacts have led to further artistic collaboration. In 2021, the Colloquium went online and we welcome now all who join in the virtual space.

The International Directors’ and Trainers’ Colloquium is the place, where Jurij Alschitz shares newest research and ideas. They are still in the process of formulation, of investigation – they are in the process of getting birth. The Colloquium is not a regular seminar for learning new techniques, it is rather the moment of exchange between professional and artistic minds participating in the innovation of theatre practice. This year we will make first steps towards:

Quantum Pedagogy

"... Quantum pedagogy applied means a total change of the individual perception; it implies the dis-function of the logic we have been brought up with, and therefore leads to a complete re-set of the mind. It affects artistic communication and creation. Quantum pedagogy is built on the relativity of knowledge and belief. Its effectiveness can be recognized only on the basis of subjective experience. It requires a special consciousness of special thinking from you, and that is its main difficulty. Quantum pedagogy is not about forming a good performer, but a creator.

This colloquium shares my findings in this new field. It is my answer to the rapidly changing world using the achievements of the science community to develop the art of acting and artistic creativity in theatre as highest category, which can then make use – if necessary – of all the technical attempts made so many."
