Painting for me is the way of expressing myself and exploring a world which cannot be explored by words. I feel inspired by colours and shapes and lines found in my everyday life. I take them up and transpose them into the more abstract language of painting. I f express myself by oscillating between figuration and abstraction and love these situations of 'in between'  which never fully reveal their secrets.

I mostly work in cycles and series, so for a time I stay with one range of colours and one common idea in all these paintings. But it comes natural, I do not take it up as an idea from the outside.  I somehow "feel" the colours or the language of lines which want to express themselves and want to be explored further.  And I let them come and go with the flow as long as it lasts. I try  not to do so much by myself but let the painting decide where it wants to go. I like to work with bigger canvases, but I also develop my themes on paper or on small canvasses. So together with the big canvasses I also have another body of works in smaller format normally. My painting material stays the same for a longer period. For the time being I work with oil, just enjoying the texture and the beautiful luminous colours.

I was born in 1953 in Germany. I studied art in Kassel/Germany and started taking part in exhibitions in 1990. I am present in national and international art shows, galleries and art fairs. A list of my exhibitions can be found on my website. The title is: What are you afraid of? It is painted with oil colours and oil sticks on canvas, 105x85 cm, from 2020. Surrounded by luminous colours, a female figure sits in the middle of the painting. She seems to be lost in deep thinking, not able to take the next step. We put this question to ourselves: What are you afraid of? And then, all of a sudden, we are able again to listen to the language of intuition.
