Flower Waltz

The rich tradition of floral symbolism in art spans numerous cultures and historical eras. Flowers have long served as a means of expressing human emotions and commemorating important events, leading to their portrayal in various artistic forms. From still-life paintings to the ornate floral wallpaper adorning the palaces of French and English aristocrats. The fusion of art and science is evident in botanical illustrations, a practice dating back to the 1st Century B.C. The Victorian era saw Pre-Raphaelite artists infusing their work with intricate botanical symbolism, while Vincent Van Gogh’s sunflower paintings stand as timeless icons in the art world.

Wild or cultivated, plants of all kinds define landscapes, provide a sense of place, and connect us to the natural world. Whether captured in the landscape, a garden, or a studio, we are looking for images that reveal the spirit and character of plants as well as our intimate connection to them. All photographic styles and processes are welcome.

May Flowers

As a way to welcome the arrival of Spring, our May group art show ”May Flowers” seeks to celebrate flowers, their beauty, and rich historical significance in various cultures worldwide.

Throughout history, humans have used flowers to communicate their emotions and to commemorate various occasions. The beauty and fleeting nature of flowers and the diverse cultural associations and symbolism attached to them have served as an inspiration to many great artists from Vincent Van Gogh to Maria Sibylla Merian. This group show showcases how flowers have remained an emblem of beauty and significance in both art and human culture over the ages. We encourage our artists to explore various interpretations of flowers and their significance in the art world.
