Stories I Tell Myself: Virtual Exhibition

Visionary Art Collective© is a Brooklyn-based art & education platform. Our mission is to connect contemporary art with education through virtual exhibitions, weekly interviews, educational resources, workshops, and more.

Stories I Tell Myself is a virtual exhibition centered around visual storytelling. How does the work we create reflect deeper, underlying narratives? For centuries, art has been used as a means of visual storytelling, and through these stories we can better understand ourselves and the world around us. In this exhibition, we are seeking work that draws upon memory and storytelling to visually communicate the personal experiences of each artist.

The essential questions guiding this exhibit are, how does memory impact the visual narratives we create in our own work, and what do these narratives reveal about the lives we live? We are seeking diverse responses to this question, and encourage artists working across all visual disciplines to submit their work.

Deadline: February 4th, 2022 at 11:59 PM EST

To submit your work, please visit: https://visionaryartcollective.submittable.com/submit/212803/stories-i-tell-myself-virtual-exhibition

Call for Art: Global Virtual Exhibition: Coming of Age

Country:

City:

Eligibility:

Artists aged 40 years and over are invited to submit to the next virtual exhibition at The Curator’s Salon.

The transition from childhood to adulthood is what we commonly think of when we hear the phrase 'coming of age.' But what about the sense of freedom and exploration those of us often feel in our later years? A second 'coming of age' presents itself where we embrace change and learn to re-fuel our creative energy.

Whether you find yourself picking up art again after a period of time away, or it's been a lifelong practice, embodying a transitional time in life gives us the confidence to create and share the art that's always been within.

The Babel Masks

Eligibility:

WHAT IS THE LIBRARIAN OF BABEL?
The Librarian of Babel is a virtual space created for the purpose of bringing artists and thinkers together at different events.

WHAT IS THE CALL?
We call all artists to create and submit a mask to The Babel Masks, a juried exhibition of original masks.

WHAT IS THE SHOW ABOUT?
Masks have become a way of life in 2020 as we grapple with the covid-19 pandemic. What if masks remain with us from now on?

This exhibition imagines how masks will evolve in 100 years as daily wear. In the hands of artists, the design still protects the mouth and nose while being more expressive, even more sculptural, more stylish and more ceremonial than the basic design we know today.

We want to see the dreams and visions that are coming to you from your daydreams and nightmares of 2120! Given how fast fashion and art evolve and move from one decade to the next, consider how much one artist can to do take the simple protective mask and raise it to a form of high art  . . . or high fashion.

WHERE WILL MY WORK APPEAR? The Babel Masks is a virtual exhibition space. If selected, your work will appear there as well as in a print-on-demand exhibition catalog.

HOW MANY WORKS DO I SUBMIT?
Each artist may submit one mask. We want to see three images of your mask. Please use the weblink in this ad for further instructions on how to apply.

HOW IS WORK SELECTED?
Works will be selected by a blind jury and included in a virtual exhibition as well as a print-on-demand catalog.

IS THERE A FEE?
There is no fee to apply or to exhibit. Send us your work!
