'New York Values' Exhibition Opening at the George Billis Gallery Tonight!! Feauturing art by David FeBland.

Self taught, New York based artist David FeBland was born in London with degrees from The University of Virginia and The University of Manchester. Drawing inspiration from both his everyday surroundings and extensive bicycle travel throughout the world, FeBland takes us on a visual journey that describes the common interactions of life that go unnoticed. He makes a compelling argument that certain human interactions are universal. Marrying a series of contrived truths with dexterity in color and form, he considers issues of privacy, conflict and isolation in contemporary life. In FeBland’s words:
“I’m not particularly interested making references to Popular Culture in my work because so much of what we commonly associate with that culture is itself distilled through some medium, originally television but now so many other forms of social media, rather than from direct observation. By creating paintings that derive from my own experience, I become the medium rather than responding to it."
FeBland’s work is represented in galleries in Los Angeles, New York, London, Frankfurt and Berlin. He has participated in over 70 solo and group shows and has been reviewed or featured in Art in America, The New York Times, American Artist Magazine, PBS Television, American Art Collector, New American Paintings, The Spectator, and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. His work is also held in many corporate collections including American Express, AT&T, Chase Bank, Citibank, IBM, Esprit, ExxonMobil, Wassall USA, Inc. and RolandBerger, GMBH, and he is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of the City of New York. His solo museum shows include The Museum of the Southwest and the upcoming Kunstverein Weinheim. A documentary film of his work and methodology will be produced early in 2016 by Sabine Carbone Film Productions.
