Open Call for Curatorial Projects

Open Call for Curatorial Projects

The BFI’s Film Feels season returns this summer, celebrating films’ unique ability to transport us, to illuminate ideas, and to spark conversations. This time round the overall theme is ‘hopeful’, and we’re looking to support three film events that fit Film Feels’ subthemes (outlined below) as part of our All Summer Long season of events.

Film Feels: Hopeful - subthemes:

Hope

Stories imbued with hope for new beginnings, better tomorrows and the goodness of humanity

Dreams of the Future

From smart cities and clean energy to food equity and social justice - whether fiction or non-fiction, films can help us to reimagine the future.

Sonor Wines America Music Competition

Musicians of all genres will compete for the chance to have their music infused into wine with Operation ARTS Foundation and their partners Sonor Wines America. Each wine receives an unmistakable “note'' of flavor through the sonication process, allowing music to become an integral part of the wine’s character. Musicians from the DC Metropolitan area will compete for the chance to have their song infused into a batch of wine by being played continuously into the fermentation tanks, as well as get the chance to have their song and image be featured on the label for each bottle of wine created from that batch. Entries are a tax-deductible entry fee of $20 and will be accepted until the deadline: June 2nd, 2021.

Cultural Practitioners: Let schools know what you have to offer this summer

Curious Minds wants to put your work on the map.

You may have seen Curious Minds' open letter circulating recently, addressed to the Secretary of State for Education. In it, we called on the Government and school leaders to #PassTheBaton on summer learning to the nation’s army of teaching artists and creative educators – many of whom are sorely in need of work after almost a year of lockdowns and restrictions on their practise. It also highlighted the very real and pressing need amongst our country’s young people for a summer of creative fun, freedom and friendship, that will give them the best possible route to effective learning when the new academic year begins in autumn.

Art-Mantic

Art-Mantic helps Artists to showcase their work through conversation. It is not about selling directly, but aims to give your audience a unique insight into your practice by capturing aspects of it through a series of quick chats that deepen over time. Recorded by zoom, these chats are edited and released on your behalf on the website and social media channels. There is a £10 fee to review applications but no ongoing costs thereafter.
